Hi Dave,

Takra's book is a poetical ME-VE : phantasmagorical NE-JU : scientific

ME-SA-MO delight even after 25 years. He is a Hindu-Fagan acolyte and

very inspirational in all of his 503 pages. Neptune alone is above the

horizon and has just the very close sextile of Jupiter. Their midpoint

is Regulus which is within a pentade of the Descendant. KHM9 Andres

favors comfortable orbs for the fixed stars so immediately we are

friends. But no one knows where he is now...We hope at the confluence of

several So.American rivers. Anyway, the preface showed 26 titles with 6

published and 5 in preparation (1983.)

I was happy to see your inquiry and have started reading him all over

again today with transiting Sun and Saturn on Regulus and Mars, Jupiter

(retro Mercury) on Aldebaran-Antares...the moorings of his chart. You

must procure the book. But where? How? The publisher was (1983) Sun

Books PO Box 4383

Albuquerque N.M. 87196 and now a rara avis. You might start with Dave at

Astrology Center of America to point you. eBay.

(Snip) You must procure the book. But where? How?

REPLY: I've found the book in pretty good condition, a bit pricey, but

affordable. It was spoken highly of, but nobody ever mentioned what

the contents consisted of. Using precession-corrected charts as a

rule, I wanted to understand what it could contribute before

purchasing it. Dave

Dave, haven't read it, and since I've never heard of it, it's probably

nothing great. I've followed Jyotish publications for more than 30

years--we have to watch for the Indian authors whose English often isn't so

great.

Hindu-Fagan? Interesting combination. Guess I spoke too soon. The author

isn't even Indian. Sorry about the mis-information, Dave. I had really

never heard of him before.

REPLY:

I've asked on several lists and have gotten a little information. When

I find a Sidereal book that I don't have, I just have to find out what

it offers.

I've been considering the fundamental differences between

casting Solar Returns in the Tropical zodiac versus the Sidereal or

precession corrected formats. The astronomical reasons can be clearly

understood, of course. The astrological reasons can become more

complex. They include considerations such as . . .

1) The Seasonal/Tropical Zodiac provides a cultural influence wherein

the seasonal changes, our early farming-hunting cultures, the

influence of trade and evolving towns and cities, and many other

factors provide an influence that has shaped our view of ourselves,

our beliefs, our interactions on broadening circles of family,

community and the world.

2) The Sidereal or P.C. approach is related more to our Earth/Sun

relationship to the stars, to the timing of the Solar Return itself,

and the diminished influence of the seasons. I say " diminished "

because the seasons are technically not a factor, yet we experience a

different time-shift or time-cycle within our short life-times. When

we look at the MC-Solar positions within successive Solar Returns, we

see a cyclic effect. This MC-Solar cycle is ever-continuing from our

birth and is the basis for the daily progression charts advocated by

the Fagan school of Sidereal astrology.

As I explore these fundamentals, I'm always looking for the considered

thoughts and practices of other astrologers. " Should Siderealists

even bother with sign-meanings? " This leads to another question,

" Should Tropicalists limit their use of sign-meanings just to the

Sun? " " If the MC-Solar cycle is so important, how don't we modify its

use depending upon which type of Solar Return you use? "

It is only by taking extreme questions into consideration that we can

shake off conventional practice and perhaps find clues to follow. When

I review the many books I have on using Solar Returns and compare the

author's practices I find widely differing approaches. What one uses,

other's find useless. The used-book prices for this particular book

vary from $50 to $90+ and I wanted to first determine the contents and

usefulness of the book relative to my interests. Dave
