Guest guest
Hi, all, I do feel that Sidereal is more accurate, at least for my chart, but it is much easier to work in Tropical because there are so many books and report writers that are written in that vein. That said, I am still working on the problems of chart Relocation and which House System to use. I don't see how these subjects can be different for Sidereal or Tropical, do you? (Or am I just resurrecting a perennial question/problem that nobody wants to talk about any more?) For instance, if a person has resided in one location for a long period of time, shouldn't their Asc and MC (etc.) have been " relocated " to that locale? What then should that period of time be--a month, six months, a year? And now to Houses. Shouldn't there be only one House System used, and which one? Equal House? Campanus? Placidus? I don't know. It seems the more I try to work in Sidereal/Constellational undecided questions like these seem to come to my attention. It's like I'm working with 3 variables all the time, and the more unsure or indecisive I become. And the more tempting to stay in Tropical, where more things seem to have been " decided " . Any guidance or solace? #8^( DR

If someone has moved a few hundred miles away I'll ask how long they have lived there and if they identify with that place as being " home. " If they are transitory in nature, moving every year or two because of their work, etc., their birth location will likely remain effective for them. If they have been there for a year or more and if they see that place as home and like it there, I'll relocate their chart. In some cases, the birth place remain operative, in other cases, not. I've recently had a chart of a Switzerland native that kept moving around the world -- but Switzerland remained the effective place for her chart's orientation even though its been 20+ years since residing there. As for houses, I use them for natal charts but not for Solar Returns or other Sidereal-type charts -- I just use the angles. If I'm doing a special type of chart I may change house systems: ** Equal house for when examining the cycles of outer planet pairs from their conjunction point. ** Campanus for natal charts when I wish to work with Sidereal charts. ** Placidus for natal charts when working with strictly Tropical charts because it provides distortion of signs relative to the Aries point which is helpful to see in the seasonal zodiac. Some groups of houses are better for some types of charts then others because of the method of dividing semi-arcs and projecting them onto the ecliptic. But, if you ask, you'll find a lot of different reasoning behind the many answers you'll get. That's why I just use the angles -- no houses, no problems, no contradictions, no confusion. As for Report Writers, they will use what ever signs the see in a chart. So, if you do a Sidereal chart they'll see the Sidereal sign and not the Tropical sign -- they will construct their report using the sign they see. Most report writer programs will permit you to alter, and save under a name, the written text so that it reflects what you want to say. A bit of work, but a relatively easy solution.
