Not understanding...

Hi everyone *waves* I've been on the sidelines for a while and I'm so

confused on the Sidereal Astrology.....since I understand my chart in the

standard astrology I was wondering if you guys could help me understand it

in Sidereal astrology. I'm wondering if I had something that I know to give

me a perspective and grasp of the differences as well as some sort of grasp

on sidereal astrology. My birthdate is 10/31/68 12:08 pm in San Diego CA

USA

Hi Everyone,

I feel the same way as Tanya. I know there are no quick explenations, perhaps

someone can tell us how the sidereal houses are set up, and tell us a little

about the mansions.

In the Bagavad Gita I have read about sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic traits. I

have heard these terms used in sidereal astrology. What is the relationship does

Sidereal Astrology have to The Gita or The Mahabharata?

Jollie, this depends upon the astrologer. I use an equal house system with

the cusp as the center of the house. This means, for example, that any

planet 15 degrees above or below the ascendant is in the first house. This

is a very old Indian system. Many Jyotish astrologers simply use

sign-as-house. The ascendant sign is the first house, and so on around the

chart. Some tropical astrologers even use this system now.

Chris just posted a couple of links to mansion information. But all these

meanings have to be taken with caution. Sometimes they work and sometimes

they don't. The mansions are used mainly for the Moon. That is traditional

in India, but many western astrologers use them for other planets as well.

For example, if several planets are in a mansion of Mercury, this might

mean those planets will express in a Mercurial way in writing, study or

research, or even travel.

No relationship in particular to those scriptures. Sometimes the mansions

are considered sattvic, rajasic or tamasic, and sometimes the houses are

given those meanings. I don't pay much attention to them. Possibly the

mansions have these 'guna' traits.

 

Jollie, I've been meanning to check for dasas (planetary periods) for the

possibility that you might move, but haven't got around to it.

Hi...thank you so much...u explained it very well. i have been away for a

little while so I will go back a few days and read the explenation about the

Mansions further.

its very interestin, yet i think that the equal house system is so much

easier. My teacher will continue teaching me other systems, but I need to get

the Tropical system well understood before i continue.

p.s by the way, during the past few days there have been major social changes

in my life. I have transformed from a homebound hermit to a sought afeter

socialite in a matter of days. Everything that occurs in my life is to the

extreme. Could it be a Plutonian influence in my chart.. I do have Pluto

conjunct Uranus in The Tropical chart...what ever it is I welcome it!!!
