Hi Jollie,

I believe we need the ascendant lord to describe the person in the chart.

So having the same ascendant degree may not mean very much unless an

important fixed star is in that degree. The character is really linked to

the Moon, and your Moon is very different than my daughter's Moon, which is

in the lunar mansion of Aslesha (not a good mansion) in Cancer. The

sidereal Scorpio ascendant is just like the tropical Sag ascendant except

that Mars is the ruling planet. Since you are accident prone, and your Mars

is square Uranus, accidents have been a keynote of your life. Also Mars is

the athlete (not Sagittarius).

>>I would like to ask you if your daughter is a very " intense " person? and

when she looks at you, does she hold her chin down gazing upward straight

to your eyes? . I am very intense, quite intuitive...

Both of these traits likely come from your powerful Venus at the top of

your chart. It's Venus that's intense, and Venus is the lord of sidereal

Libra--in the same part of the sky as tropical Scorpio. (No, my daughter

isn't like that. She has a very afflicted Venus.)

> [i'm a} complex, ascentric [eccentric?] type of person (smile).

This would come from the Uranus square to your sidereal ascendant lord, Mars.

>>I am also very athletic, which is natural to The Sag rising 22 47'

degrees in my Tropical Chart.

That trait again has to do with Mars and has nothing to do with a Sag

ascendant per se.

> I am curious, if you would like to share some of your daughters traits.

I would love to know what she's like.

Like I said, her psychological traits come from the Aslesha Moon. These are

not especially good traits, but they're always outlined in the Jyotish

books. She likes to be on her own, and is currently living in an RV

traveling around the western part of the country. She's difficult to get

along with--two divorces and a number of other broken relationships. She

believes in 'living her dream' without regard to others in her life. 'Nuf

said.

If you study a lot of tropical astrology you're going to learn many

questionable and just plain untrue 'facts.' The best way to learn astrology

is to get a thorough understanding of the planetary traits, and then learn

which planets are strong in the chart. Also the Jyotish lunar mansions tell

a lot about personality. Go slow on the signs. Much sign information is

just plain wrong. Each sign is only a key to the ruling and exalted

planets. This is why the zodiac matters.

Hi Therese,

Thanks for the terrific info about Kriya. If you have any specific web-links

about it, that will be great to read. Maybe you can upload some info on the

files section too. I love doing things like this, but very soon in every

spiritual practice at some point it becomes the question of material versus

spiritual. In energy intensive procedures they ask you to practice celibacy. And

that's where I give up:)). But I am up for doing simpler things.

Was interesting to note that your daughter's asterism aslesha. I have heard many

things from different sources. I have read it has RRS Gunas, that is rajas rajas

satva. So maybe its pretty dynamic. I believe they are also accused of being

know it alls. Don't know if Indians at the time considered serpent that this

asterism is symbolized by as wise or just plain bad. But it can apparently coil

around stuff and either seek its every essence and therefore very wise or snuff

the life out of something. So I suppose it can both be deep but also malefic.

Do they pick fights a lot? I believe seeking self reliance is one of the primary

motivations of this asterism. And therefore these people are supposed to be very

resilient.

As you can see I am very curious about it as I have it myself :)).I will just

love to hear all about it from a experienced practitioner perspective. In my

case moon is in cancer itself. So does that ameliorate some of the ashesha

tendencies. It's in 4th pada of ashresha. I am wondering if the certain

softness of a cancer moon is negated to some degree by being in this nakshatra.

Also, my moon is 27 degrees in cancer and is Amatya karaka ( not sure what that

means).

I had heard so far that ashresha born cause stress to father, which is true in

my case. Reading your experience, I guess we could extend that to parents in

general. If you have some spare time to analyse this, I can post my birth

details too.

In another post someone mentioned Scorpio and intuition. I am wondering if Vedic

people don't consider Pluto as a ruler of Scorpio, does their take on Scorpio

still include the intuition, sexyness etc that tropical Scorpio is supposed to

exhibit. If I have already asked that question here, please forgive me. I tend

to forget :))

Cheers

Shiv

Thank You Therese;

I really enjoy the sidereal perspective on Astrology. It is true that I have a

lot of Mars and Scorpio energy. Hopefully sometime next year I will be ready to

study Sidereal. My teacher also teaches Sidereal, but he thought it would be

best for me to begin with Tropical.

Thanks again for your insight.

Sincerely<

Hi Therese,

I thought a lot about writing you again. Therese, your daughter and I really

are alike from what you have told me, the only difference is the R.V. I cannot

speak for your daughter, yet i can tell you that people sometimes dont

understand that somedays I live with angels, and chase butterflies; other days i

battle demonds. Thru prayer and Faith it gets better. I find it difficult to

get along with people, i try, i put on a smile, but its just hard to pretend. I

think for me it is because the profundity of my life experiences has made me

feel far away from the world.

I have 2 divorses and several failed relationships. I am thankfull to say

that after so many difficult years, today..my Mom and I are Best Friends.

Many Blessings to you Therese.

Sincerely,

Jollie

That sounds like my daughter, Jollie, except that I'm not sure she'd admit

to the demons. Only other see them. She has a sidereal Pisces Sun while

yours is in Virgo. Both of those (sidereal) signs are changable and tend to

go back and forth. But your Sun is more mental, ruled by Mercury.

>>I find it difficult to get along with people...I have 2 divorses and

Likewise my daughter who also has two divorces and several failed

relationships. You have an interesting Moon configuration in your navamsa

chart: Moon-Jupiter in square to Uranus. This is likely going to make you

set in your own opinions with little flexibility to adjust to others.

That's probably a main cause of your broken relationships unless you

happened to marry someone who was abusive. I know my daughter simply does

not see another person's viewpoint. It seems to be utterly impossible for

her. But I get the impression you are much more a thinker than she is.

Moon-Jupiter (in the navamsa) tends to be quite intelligent.

Though your sidereal Mars, lord of the ascendant, is in Sagittarius, it's

still in the part of the sky with stars of the Scorpion. Also there's a

star of Ophiuchus (Kelb Alrai, beta Oph). This would have a medical

influence. My daughter studied in the medical field for awhile and would

have been excellent in hospital work. I think it was a wrong turn when she

left that field. Not training to be a physician--training in lab work and

medical terminology for various miscellaneous medical jobs.

>I am thankful to say that after so many difficult years, today..my Mom and

I are Best Friends.

Then I'm happy for you! My daughter and I have always had a rough time, and

she has stayed out of touch for months at a time. I just noticed! You and

she were born in the same year, but she was born in March. There must be

something to a specific degree at least on the surface because of the

similarity in your relationships and trouble with the mother and probably

other life facts as well. Interesting...I think the similarity would

probably be factual history rather than what one might call soul traits.

Soul traits are individual, and I think shown more in the navamsa--not in

the natal chart.

Another similarity: You have Saturn on your navamsa ascendant and my

duaghter has Saturn with the Sun. Saturn tends to like to go its own way.

It's into its personal viewpoint which often relates to the immediate

family or one's children--if one has children. But your Jupiter with the

navamsa Moon would take a broader point of view.

I think I'm starting to ramble, so I'll stop! I think I have to retract my

belief that individual ascendant degrees don't mean much.

Blessings,

Therese

Hi Therese,

Just one more thing...i dont want to go on, and on about this, but there are

just too many similarities with our Ascendant.

I went to school to become a nurse and dropped out, and before that to become

a phlebotomist and dropped out.

Today, I have become fortunate and can lead a life that allows me freedom to

do sports and study Astrology...after a lifetime of pain and struggle.

Sincerely,

Jollie.
