Hi Ben,

 

Welcome to the sidereal group, though you'll find more Jyotish here than

western sidereal astrology. The sad thing is that the Sanskrit terminology

and Hindu cosmology isn't really necessary to learn the basics of the

Indian system. I threw most of that out long ago along with the (to me)

unreadable square charts. That makes me something of an outcast in the

Jyotish/Vedic community. Anyway, the basics of the Indian system are very

close to the old Hellenistic techniques, and there is still arguments about

which zodiac those techniques were born in.

Well, it's certainly normal to feel disoriented and confused! Would you

like to post your birth data so we can take a look at your chart? The

sidereal zodiac won't change who you are--it will only change the name of

the sign unless your placements are near the end of tropical signs. Please

Right! Please take some time to scan the site above. Some sidereal

astrologers disagree that the sidereal signs are different than the

tropical signs of the same name, but to me that's not logical. If your

Sun, Moon and ascendant all go back to sidereal Gemini, then that sign is

completed on the site and you can read all about your new sidereal sign.

But the lunar mansion is more descriptive of the Moon than the zodiacal
