Dear Sari .

You're welcome!

You mentioned Karl Marx's chart regarding people who have the asc ruler on

the asc . I'd never seen it before so looked it up on ADB, and I would say

that even though his Saturn is in the same sign as his asc, I would count it

as more of a 2nd house planet as it's a long way from the ascending degree.

This is interesting, as the 2nd house has to do with material things, and

his whole philosophy had to do with materialism.

How do you think the Shadballa strengths work? I've never been able to

figure them out. I have Jupiter high in Shadballa, but relatively weak in

my natal chart.

Hi Bettina and Sari,

Bettina, from what I know about you, you are almost anti-Jupiter in

personality and outlook. ShadBala is one of those Indian ways of rating

planets that I question. I know it's supposed to have to do with how strong

the planets are in our makeup. ShadBala is just one more reminder that we

have to question almost everything we think we know about astrology.

I believe that studying the natal strength of planets might give a more

true picture of our planetary strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes planetary

strength or weakness agrees with the ShadBala rating and sometimes not.

Therese
