Guest guest
Here's some people who have Virgo rising and Mercury alone on the ascendant. Comments are again at the end of the post. 1. Kristian Joy Alfonso, 5th September 1963 at 7.25 AM +5.00 Brocton, MA - “American actress, a TV soap star as Hope Brady on " Days of Our Lives. " Formerly a figure skating champion, she won a Gold Medal in the Jr. Olympics. She became a model, appearing on the covers of Vogue and Bazaar at 15…” 2. Gabriel Gauthier, 12th September 1916 at 8.40 AM +0.00 Lyon, France - “French Air Force pilot. Rising through the ranks, he was a Lieutenant 1940, Captain 1943, Commandant 1946, Lt.-Colonel 1951, General 1960. Gauthier became the Administrator of Air-France 1973-81…” 3. John Gilbert, 14th September 1930 at 8.30 AM +5.00 Toronto, Canada - “Canadian talk-show host based in Niagara Falls and Toronto, Ontario. Famed for years, he was outspoken in his criticism against Pierre Trudeau. For some reason his contract was then not renewed and he moved to work at a smaller station. He is now more conservative in his publicly expressed views.” 4. Marsha Hunt, 17th October 1917 at 3.40 AM +6.00 Chicago, IL - “American actress who made her Broadway debut in 1948, had accomplished over 60 films but never achieved major stardom. Modeling that she did at the age of 17 led to a screen contract, and her on-screen debut in " The Virginia Judge " in 1935. She was very active in the civil right movement, the U.N., the March of Dimes, the Red Cross, Cerebral Palsy and Freedom From Hunger…” 5. Francois Mitterand, 26th October 1916 at 4.00 AM +0.00 Jarnac, France - French politician whose career spanned half a century and culminated in the presidency of France when he replaced Valery Giscard de’Estaing in May 1981. (…) Enigmatic, paradoxical, and apparently politically flexible, Mitterand’s politics morphed from right-wing sympathizer to Resistance fighter to Socialist Party leader. (…) In 1941, he escaped a German prison during WW II and became a civil servant in the Vichy regime, which collaborated with the Nazi occupiers in France. At some point, he switched sides and became one of the greatest of the Resistance leaders. This all left him with less of a black-and-white viewpoint of the Nazi occupation. (…) He was viewed as someone who was ready to adjust to events rather than control them. When Charles de Gaulle set up the Fifth Republic, Mitterand became one of his fiercest critics. He became an overnight member and leader of the French Socialist Party after the 1971 election, and forged an alliance with the Communist Party, eventually convincing the French that the left was a strong and democratic alternative. He was defeated for the French presidency by de Gaulle in 1965 and by Valery Giscard d’Estaing in 1974, but won in 1981, defeating incumbent President d’Estaing, and cementing a victory viewed as the greatest political change in France in 25 years. He dissolved the right-wing Parliament, oversaw anti-capitalist measures, then backed away from his socialist economic model, declaring that Socialism " has not always been my bible. " (…) With a passion for architecture, Mitterand oversaw a renovation of the Louvre museum, erected a state-of-the-art Bastille Opera House, and launched the building of a $1.6 billion National Library. (…) He spent his last years completing his memoirs, and, as an intellectual and an atheist, reading literature and asking experts about what happens after death. At his funeral, his daughter and mistress stood in the background, behind his wife and son.” 6. Michael Shermer, 8th September 1954 at 7.30 AM +8.00 Glendale, CA - “American writer and educator, a prolific author and head of the Skeptic Society (www.skeptic.com). He lectures internationally when not at his university teaching post, Assistant Professor of History of Science at the Institute for Human Progress. He taught psychology and the history of science for 11 years at Glendale College, and occasionally teaches the history of science and culture at Occidental College. The goal of the society is to debunk anything they consider non-scientific. He does not specifically reject astrology and is open-minded but wants hard evidence. He feels astrological personality descriptions are too vague and could apply to anybody. He goes after charlatans who bilk grieving families by pretending to contact the spirits of the dead and this type of deception…” -------- What we have here - two actresses (Kristian Joy Alfonso and Marsha Hunt), an air pilot (Gabriel Gauthier), a talk show host (John Gilbert - what a Mercurial occupation!)a politician (Francois Mitterand) and a skeptic (Michael Shermer). We have actors again - that would seem to be quite a Mercurial occupation, which is no wonder because acting takes skill and tricks, those Mercurial gifts. Being an air pilot like Gabriel Gauthier requires skill too. Francois Mitterand is maybe the most interesting character here with his opportunistic inclination to " turn his coat inside out " like we say here in Finland. He's described as " paradoxical " and " flexible " , very very Mercurial words; he had passon for architechture, that is art and design, he was an intellectual and an atheist... which goes together with Michael Shermer, a skeptic writer. Mercury is visible in these charts, but not always exactly the Mercury we've used to. An interesting point is that sidereal Virgos would seem to have an intellectual streak with them, that's not so visible in sidereal Geminis. That would possibly point to the fact that on the tropical zodiac, it's the Air signs that are defined as intellectuals, and on the sidereal zodiac that intellectualism may have moved to Earth (which is connected to Mercury in hindu astrology).
