Sari: My attitide was quite skeptical against it, but then I happened to join a jyotish list, where many of the astrologers use Raman. Then I gave it a chance and looked at my own Vimsottari dasa periods with it. They seemed to have sense, in fact more sense than with Lahiri (my previous ayanamsa). Then I looked a few celebrity charts. Maybe the most striking example was the British royalty and especially a couple of events around Princess Diana. Diana got married with Prince Charles at 29th July 1981, with Raman the dasha of her debilitated Jupiter had started in previous May. If the marriage wasn't a main turning point in her life, then nothing was! With Lahiri the Jupiter dasha started only in next February. The Jupiter dasha ended in May 1997 and Princess Diana died next August. Then we can look at Queen Elisabeth's chart. With Raman, her ascendant is quite probably in sidereal Capricorn and with whole sign houses her 5th house is Taurus and the 7th house from the 5th house = child's spouse is Scorpio ruled by Mars. Princess Diana had Scorpio rising (ruled by Mars) and she had her Moon in a nakshatra ruled by Mars. Mars was the strongest planet in her chart after Venus in shadbala (I'm using Parashara's Light 6). So Princess Diana was quite Martian a character and as such fitted the role as Queen Elizabeth's son's spouse. Queen Elisabeth's Mars dasha started in the 6th of February 1981 with Raman and her son got engaged with Diana in 24th February. Talk about the beginning of " Diana era " in Elizabeth's life! I haven't studied the British royalty very deeply, but this alone was quite convincing for me. Another convincing point was when I read a Bjork (an Icelandic singer-songwriter) biography following the events from her Raman dasha scheme. They fitted finely. Another thing is the planets on the border of signs or nakshatras. My own ascendant in on the border of Gemini and Cancer and the birth time is an accurate one from hospital records. With Lahiri it's too far from Cancer, but with Raman it moves to Cancer, which would seem to be more correct when studying events, indicators of the family members etc. with the house rulers. Also my Moon moves from Uttara Phalguni to Hasta, which somehow feels more correct. But of course one can't get very clear picture by studying only one's own chart and that sholud never be the only deciding factor. Then there's some simple examples: does Madonna have her Sun in Cancer or in Leo? Did Marilyn Monroe have an exalted Saturn? (Definitely not in my opinion.) Does Prince Charles have his Sun in Libra or in Scorpio? Did Jack Kerouac have his Sun in Saturnian Aquarius or in Jupiterian Pisces? Does Jane Fonda have her Moon in Ashlesa in Cancer (which would make her a seven in enneagram) or in Magha in Leo (which would make her that one which she definitely would seem to be)? Then I've studied navamsas too, but I'm not an expert in them. I know only that my own navamsa makes somehow more sense with Raman than with Lahiri (it changes quite a lot). Here's only some of the reasons. About the enneagram theory, I suggest you test it also with people you know, work mates etc. Regards, Sari
Guest guest
Thank you, Sari. I've printed out your post for checking against the charts. I have a question for you. Your English is perfect, but you are a native of Finland? In fact I've never lived anywhere else. My English has just improved over time... especially now with this intense astrology activity. I've got a good dictionary on my computer though ;o). Thanks, I'm flattered. I'm using 7.45 PM for Diana. Regards, Sari
