Guest guest
Sun in Libra 10th in Square Aspect to the Ascendant Thirty charts came up in ADB when I asked for Sun in Libra in 9th- 10th square the ascendant with one or more planets joining the Sun in Libra. Six charts were eliminated as not relevant to occupations: (1) a set of triplets, (2) a person born in a noted family, (3-4) two homosexuals (no other bio info), (5) a test tube baby and (6) a young boy noted only as being a band member. The other 24 charts present quite a different picture than the sidereal Taurus 10th house Suns. As an experiment, they can arbitrarily be divided into five groups: (1) Occult fields; (2) Competitive Sports; (3) General Misfortunes; (4)Miscellaneous creative occupations; (5) Miscellaneous celebrities From the sidereal point of view the 10th house Libran Sun rules the 8th equal house, whereas for the Taurus individuals the Sun was the ascendant lord. This is one possible explanation as to why Taurus Suns in the 10th tended to reach a pinnacle in their professions, which often required extra education beyond the norm. We don't see the same picture of success with Libra 10th house Suns, as we'll see below with the brief biographical information available in ADB. We do see a heavy emphasis on the occult and the arts. Category 1: OCCULT CATEGORY (plus the arts and psychology) Seven of the 24 charts fall under the occult with mixes in psychology or the arts. This is interesting since this area of the sky (as Tropical Scorpio) has had a reputation of being linked to the occult. I don't know the reason for this since the old Scorpio lord was Mars, which isn't an occult planet. Nor is the symbol of the Scorpion an occult symbol. Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac, and John Addey related seven to the creative and mystical and that which is religiously sacred. In Jyotish a lunar mansion ruled by the occult Rahu fills the central portion of Libra. (Exploring the occult in relation to this area of the sky is a matter for further research.) (1) Patty Learmouth, astrologer and writer: Asc 6 Cap; Saturn 0, Sun 3, Venus 13 Libra; (Saturn and the Sun are also in Tropical Libra rather than Scorpio.) (Neptune is square Jupiter/MC in Libra.) (2) Brian von Mazo, artist whose `inner guides' gave him instructions on his work: Asc 4 Cap; Sun 3, Mercur 17, MC 28 Libra. (Sun is in Tropical Libra, not Scorpio.) (Neptune in 9th trines the ascendant, and conjoins the navamsa ascendant.) (3) Didi Hover, astrologer and psychologist: Neptune 4, Sun 5, Venus 19, Saturn 28 Libra; (Sun- Neptune are in tropical Libra rather than Scorpio.) (4) Joan Borysenko, metaphysician, psychologist, author: Asc 4 Cap; Sun 9, Mercury 23.5, MC 29 Libra; (Dispositor Venus is with Neptune.) (5) Susan St. Thomas, astrologer, artist; Asc 16 Cap; Jupiter 15, Sun 16 Libra; (Neptune is in 9thpartile trine the ascendant, and also conjunct the navamsa ascendant.) (6) Linda Goldner, psychic: Mars 13, Mercury 13, Venus 23, Sun 25 Libra; (Neptune is exactly on the navamsa descendant.) (7) Alice O. Howell, astrologer, author, world traveler: Asc 28.5 Cap; Jupiter 11, Mercury 15, Sun 28 Libra; (It's interesting that Libra is said to be a cardinal sign, and with Jupiter/Mercury in Libra Howell travelled and changed her residence throughout much of her life.) (Neptune is on the descendant square the Libran Sun.) Note that art and writing are often combined with an occult/psychology association, which supports the Venus rulership of Libra along with the occult reputation of this area of the sky. It seems that a prominent Neptune brings out the psychic or occult nature of this sky area. Cagegory 2: COMPETITIVE (NON-GROUP) SPORTS Libra is said to represent what is complimentary or opposite to ourselves. Combined with Mars and or Rahu, 10th house planets seem to being out the competitive side of Libra. Five charts out of the 24 fit this category: (1) Claudio Pieri, soccer umpire: Asc 30 Sag; Sun 4 Libra, MC 26.5, Mercury 28 Libra; Mars and Rahu are west of the zenith point in Virgo (in the 10th if that point is taken as the center of the house.) (2) Maurice Larraun, French Jockey: Asc 12.5 Cap; Mars 9, Sun 11 Libra; Here the prominent Mars (dispositor of Mercury/Moon/Saturn/Ketu in Scorpio) with the Libran Sun has manifested in a competitive way. (3) Diana Bianchedi, champion foil fencer: Asc 15 Cap; Mercury 11, Sun 18.5 Libra; Mars is above the horizon near the ascendant. (4) Alison Lesley Sheppard, freestyle swimmer: Asc 14 Cap; Moon 15, Sun 19.9 Libra; Mars is west of the equal 10th cusp; (The M.C. is far to the east in Scorpio.) (5) Peter Treseder, adventurer who constantly challenged himself to physical feats: Mars 8, Neptune 9 MC 15, Rahu 17, Sun 25 Libra; Dispositor Venus is in Sagittarius. Mars/Uranus conjoin Venus from the navamsa.) None of these athletics involve cooperative team work such as baseball or football. Category 3: GENERAL MISFORTUNE OF SOME KIND I don't want to make this post too long, so I'll summarize the seven charts with a Libran Sun square the ascendant. (Other planets are in Libra as well.) I'll be happy to post details if anyone is interested. Otherwise, I'll put them on my web site. (1) a lady from a musical home who received little affection (2) the illegitimate daughter of President Harding (3) a man who starred in a TV legal drama (Libra), but met many misfortunes in life (4) child who died of strep (5) a homicide (6) plane crash victim (7) man who died of AIDS We might relate these misfortunes to the fall of the Sun in Libra and/or its rulership of the 8th house. Category 4: MISCELLANEOUS CREATIVE OCCUPATIONS These include (1) an animation artist: (Asc 16.5 Cap; Sun 10, Moon 12, MC 13 Libra, Venus with Neptune in Leo) (2) A Journalist: (Asc 9 Cap; Mercury 3, Moon 7, Sun 11.5 Libra, Venus in Leo) (3) A film director who exhibited his photographs but never held a job, working for himself: (Asc 3 Cap; Sun 6, Mercury 7, Mars 13, MC 26.5 Libra) Category 5: MISCELLANEOUS CELEBRITIES: The big name here is Whoopi Goldberg, so I'll save this category for another post. There are only two people in this category. Please remember this is an exploratory exercise aimed at seeing if this type of approach might be useful in discovering data about zodiac signs.
