in my family). I've never met Steve and can only respond to the tone

of his posts.

I do know that my Virgo/Libra traits ruffle Sagittarian feathers. One

of my daughters absolutely couldn't stand what she called 'the

embodiment of change' (me) and moved out of the house. It's

interesting that Libra and Sag are sextile to each other, which in

western astrology is supposed to be at least a mildly benefic

relationship. But the sextile aspect belongs to Saturn in Jyotish,

and from observation at least some signs in sextile to each other

seem to be living in two very different worlds.

It's intersting that Venus is an enemy to Jupiter in Jyotish, which

may be one reason Chakrapani told me my (then) 28 year marriage

wouldn't last. He actually didn't believe me when I said I'd been

married that long (and continued to the present). My husband's chart

has Jupiter with the Moon on the ascendant, and I have Venus-Neptune

in partile square (from 10th) to the ascendant, plus my Libran

planets. Yes, I know from experience that Jupiter and Venus live in

different worlds.

Really? What is the reason for that?

Hi Andi,

It has to do with India's philosphy that Jupiter represents higher

spiritual ideals or the life style of the priest while Venus is a

planet of the senses and attachment.

That's the theory, although in the actual horoscopes of people Venus

and Jupiter can act in different ways. Jupiter is often prominent in

the charts of criminals, probably because it can give the confidence

to act against society. ( " The way I see it is the right way. Society

be damned. " ) Venus can also have different expressions depending on

sign, house and aspect. My Venus-Neptune never got it together for

the physical plane in general. The inner world is more real than the

outer world. I honestly can't *wait* to get rid of the physical body.

(It's been said that Libra is very comfortable with death.)

If you take the signs of Venus and Jupiter: Taurus is in quincunx

(inharmonious) aspect to Sagittarius. Libra is in quincunx

relationship with Pisces. Then if you take Saturn: Libra is trine one

of Saturn's signs, and Saturn is exalted in Libra. (Saturn and Venus

are said to be friends.) Taurus is trine one of Saturn's signs,

Capricorn.

Jupiter in turn is friendly to Mars (Sag trine Aries) and the Sun

(Sag trine Leo). All 'masculine' planets. This is the most masculine

of the trigons (triplicities).

A lot of this goes back to Hellenistic astrology in the west which

greatly influenced Jyotish.

I am a Libra (both trop and sidereal) with a Venus Jupiter conjunction. I

can see Jupiter being called arrogant, but I think it depends on the rest of

the chart how much 'arrogance' plays out in a negative or positive way. And

probably societies differ in their assessments. Mars is seen as combative

under all circumstances for someone who believes in passivity and trying to

keep the peace, whereas perhaps a king trying to win freedom for his people

sees Mars as a friend to help his cause.

Now if you were to call me an idealist and individualist, then yes I am

that. As for marriage and Libra going hand in hand, yes they do. I've been

married three times, lol. I've always thought there were two sides to

society. Jupiter and Saturn. Some people are one extreme or the other, and

most fall somewhere in between. I wonder if it's Uranus that makes us go to

one extreme or the other. I'd have to say Uranus, because it is in an exact

semi square to my Jupiter, and Venus falls at the exact midpoint of my Sun

and Uranus. I consider myself a lot more Sagittarian and Jupiter than

Saturn, but not a criminal, just because I enjoy security in freedom, rather

than structure. That's not to say structure isn't useful, because it's

needed. You have to have rules, but I think it's the sense of stagnation and

the need for change (that is natural), and is what Jupiter vibrates to.

Jupiter creates, and Saturn builds the base for it to stand on, until the

cycle repeats.

Hi Andi,

One of the big problems with astrology is that each planet has so

many possible avenues of expression. This is why astrologers so often

miss on blind readings. I agree that Uranus is the planet that takes

us to extremes.

It's interesting that you have Venus with Jupiter in Libra (three

marriages) since Jyotish sees these planets as enemies, and in India

marriage is considered sacred and lasting for life.

Thanks for the comments on your chart! Do you want to post your birth

data?

Ooops, I have Venus and Jupiter in Virgo tropical, and in Leo sidereal,

sorry for the confusion.

Where do I post my birth data? Is there a file for that?
