Hi Bliss...Yes, they're the same except that when a western astro program draws the navamsa chart, it uses equal cusps which often puts two different signs in the same house. The Vedic version of the navamsa makes each sign a 'house,' so if someone has Gemini on the ascendant in the navamsa, any planet in Gemini is in the first house. >I know navamsa is used to further analyse the natal placements, but are the aspects between navamsa and the natal also important? Say, the D-9 (Navamsa) Jup is cjnct N Sun. Does that mean anything or the charts analyzed in their own totality only? Close conjunctions by degree between navamsa and natal chart are very important, in my experience. Also any planet in the navamsa that falls near an equal house natal cusp is significant. For example, if Jupiter in the navamsa chart falls on the natal 10th cusp, that is one indication that Jupiter will be significant in the person's life. Some examples: the person may be a politician or religious figure or have wide exposure to the public in some way. For a person's psychology I look mainly to the Moon and its nakshatra plus its position and aspects in both natal and navamsa charts. Thus, though my friend's Saturn is on the ascendant, it has nothing to do with 'fear' as such. Therese
