January 2006 Monthly Vedic Horoscope

 

General

 

Although Mars is finally moving away from Saturn's aspect letting us all breathe

a little easier, the continued presence of the Rahu-Saturn trine still has a

difficult, and perhaps portentious feel about it. Saturn symbolizes structure

of all kinds, including social institutions, duties and obligations, chains of

command, buildings, and ancient civilizations to name but a few. All of these

dimensions of Saturn are coming under the influence of Rahu's will to change,

disrupt, and energize. In other words, this will be a difficult time for the

status quo.

 

And while Mars may not longer be tormenting Saturn (and vice versa), the planet

of conflict will be moving in tandem with Jupiter for most of the month. This

Mars energy now will be shunted towards Jupiter's tendency to make things

bigger. Anything at risk of expanding too much -- like speculative bubbles,

holiday food-filled waistlines, and tanks of flammable gases -- may be pushed to

exceed its limits. The ability to act quickly is usually a good thing, but in

times when there are long standing afflictions to Saturn, this can lead to rash

and intemperate actions that jeopardize the daily structures that we all rely

on.

 

There is much talk these days of the Great Parallel between Venus, Jupiter,

Neptune, and Pluto. Certainly, the presence of two benefics can be a useful

feature in the cosmic configuration for all of us. However, one cannot take

these things in isolation. The linkage between all the planets may also provide

a bridge through which the negative and disruptive energy of Saturn and Rahu can

flow more deeply into various areas of life. Let's just hope that the

favourable influence of Venus and Jupiter manages to shift the overall tone of

energy towards positive and welcome change.

 

 

ARIES (Apr 13 - May 13) The Ram is on a roll to start the new year. With

Mars in Bharani for most of the month, there will be payoffs from your ceaseless

efforts and indominable will. No need to compromise now, just stick with your

vision and the light will find you soon enough. With Venus moving retrograde

back into Sagittarius at mid-month, there may be a shift in tone away from the

material towards the ideal or spiritual and higher ideals. And Mars is finally

breaking free from Saturn's heavy aspect, so internal and external opposition

will be more easily co-opted now.

 

TAURUS (May 14 - Jun 14) As Venus continues it retrograde movement through

Uttara Ashada for much of this month, this is a good time to start new ventures.

The conjunction with the Sun on the 13th is also likely to bring some attention

and favour to you. This notoriety will probably entail some kind of change or

innovation, so be prepared for possible ruffled feathers amongst the more

conservative. Once Venus moves into Purva Ashada after the 19th, you may employ

patience in your struggles. Look for a significant action from a hidden source

to address the situation around the 23rd.

 

GEMINI (Jun 15 - Jul 15) You may find yourself interacting more than usual

with business contacts and acquaintances this month, especially before the 19th.

While there may not be any immediate upside to this socializing, it will be a

good time to lay the groundwork for future encounters. Some extra enjoyment is

likely around the 17th. After this time, some research opportunities may

present ways to increase income. On the 25th, you may raise your profile among

others and you will spend time in the company of authority figures with secrets

to tell.

 

CANCER (Jul 16 - Aug 15) Career matters generally go well this month as Mars

soaks up Jupiter's good vibes in your 10th house. Be careful not to be drawn

into any unwinnable arguments, however, as these will impede your progress.

Your relationship will be a generous source of happiness for the first half of

the month after which time more pragmatic concerns will take precedence. Near

the 17th, expect some good news from afar involving a sibling.

 

LEO (Aug 16 - Sep 15) Your communicative abilities are at their peak this

month. As a result, your efforts to advise and persuade will likely bring about

some favourable outcomes. The time around the 13th may put you in the company

of idealistic women. Towards the end of the month, you may be called upon to

perform in a supporting or service-oriented role that may involve foreigners or

VIRGO (Sep 16 - Oct 16) Educational concerns may be upper most in your mind

this month as Mercury and Jupiter, the planets associated with learning, are

SCORPIO (Nov 16 - Dec 14) You are still in a supportive and advocatory mode

now with Mars in your 6th house. It's quite likely that women figure more

prominently now for you than usual, either as friends and business associates or

as those you are helping. Communicating your ideas is more vital than ever now

and you have the ability to do it with flair and skill. The time around the

23rd looks especially promising for social contacts and speaking engagements.

 

SAGITTARIUS (Dec 15 - Jan 13) January looks like a very busy and energetic

month. This is a good time to reap all those rewards that are coming you. With

Jupiter now in Vishaka, you are well-positioned for substantial gains in various

areas of life. Just make sure you have the stamina to deal with the many

demands that will be made on your time. Love and social contacts will increase

after the 12th as Venus moves back into Sagittarius. You will get a breather

in the last week of the month, so that will be a good time to sit back and enjoy

CAPRICORN (Jan 14 - Feb 12) You may be able to relax a bit more this month

as Mars is gradually moving away from Saturn. There's still ample energy to

continue with career progress as Venus lingers in Capricorn until the 12th.

Thoughts of love and relationship matters also won't be far from your mind now.

After that time, some inward searching may be more to your liking as Venus moves

into your 12th house. This would be a good time to perform some charitable work

or take up study of foreign cultures or spiritual techniques.

 

AQUARIUS (Feb 13 - March 13) Hopefully the holiday season didn't do

irreparable damage to your waistline. With Saturn in Pushya in your 6th house,

there may be a tendency towards overeating and weight gain. In the meantime,

your nurturing and supportive instincts will make sure that everyone you care

about will be provided for. Around mid-month, your emphasis may shift a bit

towards securing gains for yourself however, as you look ahead. Travel and

spiritual pursuits will also play a role this month. Look for a fruitful

exchange around the 17th.

 

PISCES (March 14 - Apr 12) Jupiter moves into Vishaka this month so it ought

to be a good time for laying plans for future gains. One risk here is that you
