He put it so well, that we decided to just forward it to those of you not on the Interactive List. The Steering Committee fully concurs with what Glenn has said, and cannot warn strongly enough against doing this show. Your 15 minutes of fame can do you, astrology and all other astrologers damage which would take much more than 15 minutes to repair. --\ --------------------- Some of you probably are aware of " Penn and Teller's Bullshit " on Showtime. Well, astrology is currently in their crosshairs and about to be attacked. For more information about this TV program, see the following link: http://flakmag.com/tv/bullshit.html Penn and Teller are avowed atheists and part of the skeptic community a la " the Amazing Randi. " The sole purpose of their show is to expose frauds and charlatans and to humiliate the people that are taken in by them. Some of us have been contacted by the show's producers and invited to participate. I think it's a bad idea, although it's probably inevitable that they'll find a few well-meaning astrologers and serve them up to Penn & Teller on a plate to be eviscerated. The astrologers will be interviewed for the avowed purpose of explaining the history and theory of astrology. However, in the end, their comments will be edited in such a light as to hold astrology up to ridicule and expose the astrologer as either a fool or a fraud. Make no mistake: this is not a fair debate or documentary on astrology. It's an ambush, and there's nothing we can do about it other than refuse to participate. I suppose the only solace one can take from such things is that astrology will survive the attack, as it always has, and continue to march forward toward its own bright future. Guest guest
Thing is, most astrology deserves to be ridiculed. Guest guest
- " Christopher Kevill " <ckevill Wednesday, October 26, 2005 12:19 AM Re: [Fwd: [AFANAnnouncements] From Glenn Perry - Penn & Teller's Bullshit] > Thing is, most astrology deserves to be ridiculed. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.... -------------------------------- I don't get it. Why would you really need enemies in your life? Someone was telling me yesterday about the 12th house and about its traditional meaning connected to Unknown Enemies. So I said - this is just an old meaning, but we don't need it anymore, if we have evolved. 12th House is also the House of Sacrifice, Isolation, Dreams... there are so many meanings for it, why would someone choose Enemies for a meaning? I mean, whenever you talk or think about someone as an enemy, it is like you really want him to be your enemy, like you really like to have enemies. Otherwise, why should you think about him like that? I use to think that humans use their freedom of thought to think what they really desire. So, when you talk about enemies, I feel that you really like them... And if you see someone as an enemy of yours, even if he is not that in his mind, how would he be helpful in your life? No offense intended, just a thought. Light, Peace and Love! AdiM http://adim.astrele.ro
