Guest guest
Hi everyone In my quest to learn more about sidereal astrology I am looking for some software that draws up sidereal charts both natal and for horary if poss. What would you recommend. I have only just started this venture and am fairly new to western astrology too. I have a western astrology program already. I can only see Vedic software when I search - is this the same as what everyone is talking about on this site or is it just similar in that it uses constellations rather than signs? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Love Emma
Guest guest
Hello Emma, Almost every commercial software include sidereal parameters. Since my mother tongue is French and I own french software, I will not speak of them. However, you can find on the web two wonderful freewares: Astrolog32 and Aldebaran (now available on the web). Astrolog32: http://uk.geocities.com/astrolog32 Aldebaran: Astrolog_ListAntonio/ -- Best regards François - " Emma Sunerton-Burl " <emma Saturday, June 25, 2005 8:27 AM RE: Software? > Hi everyone > In my quest to learn more about sidereal astrology I am looking for some > software that draws up sidereal charts both natal and for horary if poss. > What would you recommend. Love Emma >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>< Dear Emma, Reading Francois message I dare to recommend on basis of what I use and value: AS TO COMMERCIAL ONES: Solar Fire - you easily do a sidereal chart with several ayanamsas, Fagan-Bradley, Lahiri and several others, plus the option to use your own ayanamsha. Further you have the feature to do moving dials. Then directions, progresions, stars, a hundred possibilities ... not necessary to buy SF6, even with SF4 you get what you need, although SF5 adds interesting improvements. Winstar - as good as SF, with both you can do a tropical or sidereal chart, geocentric or heliocentric. But Winstar adds the " equatorial " . Also Winstar has many features to calculate directions, progressions, to do a " rectification " etc. There are many other good and adequate soft. For instance Janus, apparently this program also makes wonderful dials and offers all functions and features required by a professional astrologer, thus also sidereal. At a time it was possible to download from the official site, a free demo with all features, and that demo was valid for 3 months. FREE SOFT Riyal - this is an excellent software, the creation of Juan Revilla who I see is contributing to this forum since long. Also one of my preferred ones due to its precision, asteroid and star data, plus very advanced techniques. Astrolog as informed by F. Carriere - Excellent program. Then the Astrodienst site implements calculation of all kind of charts, also thru Astrolog program. So you can go to their site, register free and get your maps calculated and even interpreted by several known people. There are four other excellent free software, two in English, two in Spanish, however I'm not sure what they provide for the sidereal astrologer, will be seeing this when i have some time. You get all mentioned programs thru Google. TO FRANCOIS CARRIERE: I'm interested to know about French programs, if they offer some different features, and specially if they are free. Please write in French if you prefer, and i will be translating for the list. As to commercial, I have read about the excellent Infociel, although have not tested it. best wishes, alhena c. Actually, I use Astro-PC PRO, which has the complete " Infociel " line plus many other features. Of course, it is expansive, but it is complete, except if you use German astrology (Witte/Ebertin and al). However, although Astro-PC has few of the main vedic astrology feature (dashas, asthakavarga...), it does not implement regular (Fagan) occidental sidereal astrology features such as PSSR. That's why I use Aldebaran. Infociel line is only for specific goal for each of its program. We do have a wonderful after sale service with Francis Santoni. You can use Astro-PC in English. -- François
