D*S, I won't disagree with you on that one. >I don't know how return charts can be read if Venus means peace >and also by the way, not peace. In mundane Mars means war and >Venus peace. I have no argument with you there. The planets represent universal concepts. For example in India the basic meanings of Venus are the same, though there is no relationship there to western mythology. As I mentioned briefly in my earlier post, the planets aren't the signs. What I was complaining about re: Cyril Fagan is that he transferred pure Venusian meanings to Libra when Libra is actually a combination of two constellations (perhaps more than two, taking into consideration constellations further from the ecliptic), plus some of the mythology of Venus and Saturn. So I'd say that the pure expression of a planet doesn't necessarily have a relationship to western mythology. But I believe that the signs can in part be related to western myth. The astrology of sign traits evolved here in the west. I've explained this in part on my web site. (Aries, Taurus and Gemini so far) http://users.snowcrest.net/sunrise/LostZodiac.htm You're welcome to debate any of my conclusions-in-process. Nothing is set in stone. >Let's look at the Great War. A good analysis. I didn't mean to say that the planet Venus had anything to do with war. Libra, Taurus, Venus. Each one is different. >>The Armistice is shown Oct. 18, 1918 in the Libra Ingress...Mercury (your mediator) in Libra is brokering the peace. Yes, Mercury and the Sun are in the sign Libra, and their dispositor is Venus in Virgo, ruled by Mercury, the go-between. Also the Sun and Mercury are in the constellation of Virgo, not Libra. (Why we have to distinguish between signs and constellations.) Libra as a sign can be said to represent 'a coming together.' However, it isn't necessarily peaceful. Two different concepts. One is psychological, the other an action. So, in constellational terms, Virgo is the dominent influence. (I don't have the time for the ingress or armistice--I checked the planets for the day.
