As usual, ignore the sign ingress dates of the Sun and use your ascendant

January 2005 Monthly Horoscope

 

General

 

There is an unusual pattern of 4 planetary ecliptic crossings this month.

When planets occupy 0 degrees of latitude (the horizontal axis of the

solar system), they are parallel the ecliptic and become more powerful for

exerting their energy in the world. The recent tsunami disaster may have

been partially due to the simultaneous ecliptic parallels of malefics Mars

and Saturn. This is a very rare occurence and may have had a hand in the

widespread death and destruction that occurred on December 26.

 

In fact, being slow moving planets, Mars and Saturn are still not quite

exactly on the ecliptic. Mars is precisely parallel on January 15, while

Saturn parallels on January 8. Both were extremely close to the

ecliptic/0* point at the time of the tsunami. While I believe most of the

destructive energy of this simultaneous parallel has been burned off by

the tsunami, we should expect greater than average misfortune involving

violence and destruction near or on those dates.

 

Also, Mercury crosses the ecliptic on January 13, so there may be an event

then that reflects Mercury's areas of intelligence, communication, and

transportation. Given the presence of Mars and Saturn so close to the

ecliptic however, this may not be a wholly favourable time. Large scale

accidents or computer-related difficulties are more likely near that date.

 

Venus also crosses the ecliptic on January 18 so there may be an emphasis

on the feminine realm at that time, as well as beauty and art in general.

Again, however, the presence of malefics in parallel means that some of

this otherwise benefic energy may be redirected resulting in hardship in

those areas. Women may suffer unduly on or near that date.

 

 

 

ARIES (Apr 13 - May 13) The long dark night of the soul continues for

you to start the new year. Party invites may be down and you may feel out

of sorts but this doesn't have to be a bleak time for you. Mars in the

8th house can mean energy to probe the unknown and your sex life may be

richer than usual. Things should improve after the 10th as Mars moves

into Jyestha. Expect to be be drawn towards spiritual actions and

travelling for the rest of the month. Inspiration will arrive near the

15th in the form of a dream or a beautiful memory recalled. Success will

find you on the 21st.

 

TAURUS (May 14 - Jun 14) You're off and running in the new year this

month. Your ruling planet Venus conjoins Mercury for a good part of

January with the result being greater creativity and good fortune,

especially in matters of education, religion, and earning money from

unusual or unearned sources -- and this would include a Super Bowl wager.

You will likely end up the victor in any conflict or battles you encounter

this month as well. Around the 8th, you may become mired in a little too

much good luck -- something that looks favourable may end up producing

less results than expected. Things should get even better after the 15th

when Venus moves into Purvashada. Money matters with spouse or family

should improve at this time.

 

GEMINI (Jun 15 - Jul 15) With your ruling planet Mercury conjoining

Venus for most of January in Sagittarius in your 7th house, love and

partnership matters will be in focus. Generally, these should do very

well indeed although real improvement happens after the 15th. Before

then, there may be a sense of unreality about the person that makes you

uneasy. You may not know where you stand with them or feelings may change

quickly. Look for a windfall from an unexpected source around the 8th.

Watch for a moment of tension and difficulty in relationships around the

25th.

 

CANCER (Jul 16 - Aug 15) As Jupiter moves out of Moon-ruled Hasta, you

may shift your focus from the work routine to children. Mars is sitting

in your 5th house of progeny this month, so there ought to be some

emphasis on children with the likelihood that you spend more time with

children -- either your own or someone else's. Investment decisions may

also occupy your thoughts this month. Some marital tensions are possible

around the 13th. Watch for losses or heavy expenditures after the 23rd.

 

LEO (Aug 16 - Sep 15) With Sun, Mercury and Venus in your 5th house

for the first half of the month, speculations and family matters should be

high on the priority list. Aside from a temporary setback near the 13th,

these will go well. Money may arrive via a sibling, or siblings will

have good fortune in financial matters. After the 23rd, Sun moves into

Shravana so watch your spending. You may be tempted to spend excessively

on children at this time.

 

VIRGO (Sep 16 - Oct 16) Since Mercury conjoins Venus most of January,

your month will go better than most. This conjunction occurs in your 4th

house so that ought to contribute to a general sense of well-being and

contentedness, especially regarding your home life. Some money may

suddenly appear or disappear in the first half of the month (the 8th may

prove a pivotal date), but the second half of the month will feature a net

monetary gain. After the 9th, Mars moves into the Mercury-ruled nakshatra

of Jyeshta, so that might make for some hardships involving siblings.

Don't take the events of the 25th to heart.

 

LIBRA (Oct 17 - Nov 15) The new year is off on the right foot as your

ruling planet Venus moves in tandem with Mercury for most of the month.

This may make you more communicative than usual and you will have a lot of

mental energy. Recognition for your efforts is most likely in the first

two weeks of January while Venus is in the nakshatra of Mula. After the

15th, you may find yourself preferring solitude over the hustle and

bustle, even if that is hard to come by. You are also more likely to

corresponding with foreigners at that time. Saturn may arrive to put a

damper on things on the 27th.

 

SCORPIO (Nov 16 - Dec 14) With Mars in your first house, you continue

to put yourself out there in January. The results should be great. As

Mars moves into Jyeshta after the 9th, your focus may shift from higher

knowledge to relationships. With Jupiter moving into a Mars-ruled

nakshatra this month, expect things to generally go well. There is a

world to gain. And around the 22nd, your ship comes in. However, you may

choose to keep some of your gains in love and money a secret. Sometimes

the world just doesn't understand Scorpios.

 

SAGITTARIUS (Dec 15 - Jan 13) .Life may take some detours at the

beginning of this month as your ruling planet Jupiter moves into Chitra.

Social relationships of all kinds go well as Mercury combines with Venus

this month, but perhaps not quite as well as you'd like. Also, unwanted

or foreign persons may figure prominently in your life in the first week

of the month. After that, Mercury and Venus move into your first house,

so those furtive glances should evolve into something more, especially

around the 8th. Reflect on the true nature of the physical attraction in

any relationship and your life will go smoother.

 

CAPRICORN (Jan 14 - Feb 12) After the first week of January, your focus

should shift to material gains as Mars asserts itself in your 11th house.

The Rahu aspect to Mercury and Venus on the 8th ought to bring some

measure of success your way especially in matters concerning foreign

countries or " total " institutions. As Mars moves into Jyeshta after the

10th, romantic matters may assume a new importance. The last week of the

month sees profits and status increase as you are the recipient of a

distant communication of good news.

 

AQUARIUS (Feb 13 - March 13) After being neglected for so long, things

may finally be turning around for you at work. As Jupiter moves into

Chitra on the 5th, some measure of success may come your way. There is a

window of about a week where your status rises. However, as Mars moves

into Jyeshta, there will likely be a shift towards gains specifically.

Relationship matters may not go as hoped as you may get find yourself

having to work through the foundations of the relationships that are

important to you. Older siblings may also encounter obstacles that call

for your attention.

 

PISCES (March 14 - Apr 12) As your ruling planet Jupiter changes

nakshatras on the 5th, you may find yourself more oriented to deeper

thought about the things in life that are important to you. Travel may

also appeal at this time. January will be a good month to strengthen the

bonds of friendship with those around you and one of them may provide help

to you at work. Expect to be smiling unexpectedly around the 13th as

life on the job gets a boost from a strange or distant source. Don't

succumb to negative thinking on the 25th.
