Dear Francois,

In this case it is interesting to examine the cross connections between the

constellations in Greek terms with the Indian ones:

The constellation Ophiuchus is the snake bearer, the snake is also a symbol

of the spine, (according to the Rosicrucians by the way) Ophiuchus

represents the medical field, poisons by the snake that can also be useful,

if assembled crrectly as a medicine to actually cure, so poison and medicine

come very close ;-)

In a certain way kundalini also represents health-balance, right?

Greetings,

Anne

Why do the Indians use the New Moon in Pisces? Why not Capricorn or

Aries? or any of the signs?

Hi Bert,

Good question--and one I found myself asking a number of Indian

astrologers over several years with no really good answer forthcoming.

As far as I know, there is no mention of this chart in any Indian

classical text (at least I've never seen it or had anyone knowledgeable

in these texts point it out).

I had the simple realization one day that this chart must be a throwback

to the First Nissan Moon and is usually the closest New Moon to the

vernal equinox.

Since there is no mention anywhere of a New Moon in Aries or Taurus, it

seems obvious this idea arose during the time the equinox was occurring

in Pisces.

It doesn't always happen that the New Moon closest to the equinox occurs

in Pisces, as is the case with this one. The closest one occurs on March

10, 2005 in Aquarius.

I would think that understanding the origins of this chart would be

important for its survival. Will Indians still be calculating the New

Moon in Pisces when the equinox occurs in Aquarius?

I may have to reincarnate just to find out.....

Best,

Steve
