Could you explain the reason of this particular chart? There must be an astronomical data I don't get... Many thanks, François

Choosing " Summary tables of Moon data " fot jan 1, 2005, 0h00, Washington, I get a " Cresecent first seen " on december 13, 2004... -- Best regards - François

It could be that that the Default criteria are different I think that the default is Ilyas-A that uses alt and elongation. I have mine set for the Fortheringham that uses Alt and real Az. Secondly, did you make sure you took the very first day of visibility? Chose a date and then hit inter. You will see if it is visible or not. It will say not Visible or should be visible. The date is controlled by the insert and deletes keys. The former mores the date backward while the latter moves it forward. Then hit enter and you will see times. There is the time of Sunset, the Time and Best Time. (For visibility. That is the time I used. Move to Jan 13,2004 and with the Fortheringham criteria. That should be the date and time you get. Note that Jupiter(Planet of prosperity security) is on the IC while Saturn,(Planet of loss and disability) is on the rise with the Sun(Planet of government or organization) sets. It is going to be very dicey in WCD. However, I think that the Jupiter will provide and protect, and that our capitol and those who live there will survive. *** END PGP VERIFIED MESSAGE *** Terms and Conditions - Posting Style Guide - Posting FAQ ©2002 Google

There must be >an astronomical data I don't get... > >Many thanks, > >François > >_____________________ > > François: The chart I calculated, using the Moon 6.0 program was for the first appearance of the crescent moon near Sunset. It is a very local phenomenon, depending on the separation of the Sun and Moon, (Elongation) as well as the relative azimuth and elevation of the Moon. In ancient times, this event marked the start of each Lunar Month, (It still does in the Jewish and Islamic calendars) and was used by the priests in Babylon to forecast events for the month I have been experimenting for some time with this device and it seems to give a picture of events in and around the location for which it is calculated. I emphasize, it is very local in nature. Thus such techniques as A*C*G are not appropriate in this case. <> That does not mean that I feel that the ingresses and the like are not useful. I use these and the appropriate Anlunars. But the crescent chart does seem to have prognostic value. I hope that this answers the question.
