Guest guest
Dear All: I think, Andrew brings up a very good point re. Astrology & Mysticism... In fact, in the Vedic tradition, which is the ultimate authority for Eastern Astrology or Jyotish, all of the principles, rules and ideas are due to the 'consciousness cognitions' of vedic Seers, who were purported to be able to see into the nature of Being, and cognize, directly the truths of the ved. A comparable experience might have been Albert Einstein, who talks about his 'cognition' of Relativity Theory. He said that at some point it just appeared to him, like out of a dream.... and he was so confident, that if practical experience didn't support his belief, he would still believe in it! I think many enthuiasts of Astrology sometimes, have the experience that life and living go along with the ideas and perceptions, and beliefs of Astrology. In my own case, after learning all the various rules and principles of Astrology, it wasn't until I started watching the daily Transits, that Astrology as if, came alive, to me. Then, all manners of 'ahas'.... which now, looking back, seem more mystical then scientific, but still as truthful. Today, I don't think there's necessarily such a big gap that needs to exist between consciousness and Astrology or even science. We can study Astrology in many ways. We can study it 'intellectually' but we can study it, in terms of our 'seeming', mystical, Consciousness realities....and we can also study it scientifically. I think one of the greatest things that could happen in the near future, is to move 'Astrology' towards a really true and functioning, modern science of Astrology. I was however familiar with him because I own a partial translation of the Kitâb al'Futûhât al'Makkiyya. The translation I have, though, focus on spiritual love.
