Guest guest
I'm certainly not an expert on predicting political winners, but here's my latest on the California Recall election from the Political list. I wish an experienced siderealist would look at these charts. (Those who might be very tired of seeing my posts will get a break, as I will be gone for a day beginning now, Thursday afternoon.) ---- I guess it's best to put down my final thoughts on whether Cruz Bustamante will come out on top in the California Recall election. I'd like to reply to one statement of Steve's--that Bustamante doesn't have a winning solar return chart. On September 13 Steve wrote: " I don't think his Solar is indicative of winning the election however. Lord of the 10th, Saturn, is in quincunx to ascendant lord Mars. On election day, the nodes are transiting Mars, ruler of the ascendant--an eclipsing of power? " --------------------- Saturn is indeed weak in Bustamante's solar return. I will pass on the nodes transiting solar Mars, as I generally don't look at transits to the solar return--though I admit they may be important. I disagree, however, that Bustamante's chart doesn't show a possible victory. Here's why: (1) The solar return ascendant at 20 Aries is conjunct Bustamante's natal Jupiter in the 11th at 18 Aries. (I am rounding off all the degrees--Lahiri/Krishnamurti ayanamsa.) Jupiter is the natal 10thhouse ruler. It's also the dispositor of the angular Sun and Mercury. Natal Jupiter is also trine the Sun and Moon. (2) Using equal houses with the cusp as the power point of the house, solar Jupiter is three degrees from the 4th cusp--the nadir--aspecting Moon in the 10th. Moon is the dispositor of solar Jupiter, so this essentially places Jupiter in the 10th house. (3) Solar Sun is trine the solar ascendant with a one degree orb. (4) An unknown is what the partile square of the 7th house Mars to the 10th house Moon means. A very, very close contested election with a lot of bickering? (5) Cruz' natal ascendant lord, solar Mercury, is conjunct the solar M.C., same degree. To avoid confusion, I've discounted the rulers of solar return houses and used only the ascendant and angles as the focus points of the chart with crossovers to the natal chart. Bustamante's Ennead Chart: (1) Six degrees 26 minutes of Aries rises. This is sextile natal Venus as 6 Aqu 25--a one minute orb. (2) The Ennead M.C. is conjunct natal Sun in 7th--orb 3 degrees. (3) Ennead Sun, Venus, and Mercury in Leo are trine the Ennead M.C. at 24 Sag. Thus, they trine the natal Sun. (4) The Ennead Moon at 20Cp44 is conjunct the natal mean North Node at 20Cp45, a one minute orb. (5) Ennead Uranus at 6Aq27 conjoins natal Venus at 6Aq25, a 2 minute orb. (I suppose that could go either way except that Uranus is the benefic 9th house lord.) At 8 a.m. on the morning of October 8, the day after the election: (1) Transiting Venus is at 4Li44 sextile natal Mercury (asc lord) at 4Sg40. Pleasing news? (2) Transiting Jupiter is less than a degree past the conjunction to natal Moon. (3) Transiting Sun is a few minutes from the square to natal Sun--a turning point and reorientation? If Cruz does win the election, there's something of a case here for precession corrected returns since there are several very close orbs to natal planets. If Cruz Bustamante becomes governor, it wouldn't be such a big change for him since he's already second in command to the governor. I don't think that his solar return and ennead show failure in any way. But if you consider house lords in the solar return chart, and use the M.C. as the 10th cusp, you can come up with a very different picture. I've kept the natal house rulerships for planets in the solar return chart. This is a technique I'm experimenting with. Here's hoping that the Democrats hold on to California. I'd hate to see Bush win this one. Therese
