Guest guest
THE NEW INSTANT ASTROLOGER by James A. Eshelman and Tom Stanton I've looked over the Sun and Moon sign interpretations in THE NEW INSTANT ASTROLOGER, and I'm not very impressed. Eshelman and Stanton seem to have made the same mistake that Tropical astrolgers make: giving far too many interpretive details to the signs when these details belong only to the planets. (However, most of the material in this book on the planets and synastry is quite excellent.) I agree with Juan Oliver and other siderealists that planets are more important than signs of the zodiac. **Psychology** is in the planets, but the signs do have a say in our **activities.** A sign is important in showing how a planet will express. In the sidereal zodiac we have alternating 'male' and 'female' signs. These are better described as signs that are more focused and concentrated ('male') or dispersed and many-sided ('female'). It's well known that women can attend to several activities at once while men generally are able to focus on only one activity at a time. The male and female brains are structured differently. So if the Sun, which expresses as more focused energy, is in a male sign such as sidereal Aries, the Sun is happy there and can be productive. But if the Sun is found in a female mutable sign like sidereal Pisces, then there will be trouble keeping singleness of purpose. Concentration in one direction will be difficult. The Sun is caught, so to speak, in a sign of lunar energy. Now take the Moon. The Moon is a planet of change and variety. The Moon will have free expression in sidereal 'female' signs. Taurus, for example is like variable Tropical Gemini. The Moon is happy in this sign. But put the Moon in Leo and it's likely to be too rigid and fixed. (However, the lunar mansions are more important than the signs for the Moon.) The 'female' signs simply partake a little of the changing lunar energy. The next question is: If the Sun is in a particular sign, say in the 10th house, does the life emphasis of the person reflect the sign? If Sidereal Libra is 'mystical,' (as is said of Tropical Scorpio) are people with many planets in this sign astrologers or mystics or inclined to the metaphysical? I'll post a few sign examples a bit later. Therese
