Paola, in order for us to really understand what you are talking about, we need to see a real life example or two. Why not post some birth data, let us set up the charts and then you delineate them on your terms so we can understand what you are saying? They are different.... An applying aspect occurs when the faster moving planet is closing in on the exact orb which completes the aspect with the slower moving planet. An approaching aspect occurs when the faster moving planet is moving away from the opposition with the slower moving planet, moving toward a conjunction with the slower moving planet.
