Lisa, since the late 60s I've tested various house systems, and if you are

talking about the simple effect of planets in houses, I've found the equal

house system, with the cusp (ascendant degree) in the CENTER, the most

reliable. After years of research Lois Rodden decided on the western equal

house system over the quadrant systems (Placidus, Campanus, Koch, etc.)

However, if you are trying to isolate planets in the psychological sense,

the M.C. point may well be more important, but not as a house cusp (in my

experience.) It doesn't matter what zodiac you are talking about:

Fagan-Allen, Lahiri or Tropical. The results would be the same.

Of course with AstroDatabase, we now have the raw data to test any theory

of houses we want to test.

As a Lahiri person, I want to also cast a vote for the equal house system

with the cusp (most sensitive and powerful point) as the centre of the

house.

In using the equal houses, I do not preclude the possibility that unequal

cusps may also be sensitive points. The difficulty lies in determining

which of the house systems is correct and I haven't found a reliable answer

to that question. Until some decent research sheds some light on that

question, I will content myself with the equal house system. So if you

don't use it, I would encourage you to give it try.
