Guest guest
Respected Girish ji, I believe you might have read it in Arun Sanhita. Chirayata as an upaya is mentioned in Arun sanhita for Mars + Saturn combination in the 7th house { page 312, Arun sanhita } This upaya has been mentioned for the same combination in the 7th house in the 1952 Urdu ed on page 885. Incidentally this upaya has not been mentioned in the earlier editions like 1941 or 1942 editions. The use of Chirayata has been advised specially if there are any mental problems [ dimagi kharabiyan]. Now let us understand the context of this upaya. This situation of the mind has been envisaged if there is an aspect on the 7th house which is from a planet enemy of either Mars or Saturn.. If it is an enemy of Mars it will turn Mars into a malefic and if it is an enemy of Saturn in that case it will depress Saturn. In either case Mars will effect Mercury and Venus the owners of the 7th house. This could lead to mental problems and problems of blood in the areas below the groin. In order to turn Mars into a benefic the use of Chirayata has been advised. Chirayata like Neem tree is a karak of shubh Mars [ benefic Mars ]. Chirayata is a plant which is many times more bitter than the Neem. In Ayurved it is used to cleanse the blood.
