Aldebaran, Antares and Lunar Mansions

On March 15 I asked Ken Bowser to give specific quotes from scholars to

support Cyril Fagan's contention that Aldebaran marked the center of the

sidereal sign of Taurus in the ancient Egyptian zodiac. So far, no response

from Ken or anyone else, so here's another quote from Fagan's ASTROLOGICAL

ORIGINS:

The Bak or " Working Stars " (p. 77)

" It would appear that the Egyptians regarded the smdt or middle point of an

asterism, constellation, or mundane house as its strongest point. "

I don't think there is any debate that the mansions of the Moon were used

prior to the signs of the zodiac. A lunar mansion represented a star or

asterism which the Moon passed through on its monthly course. There is no

evidence that these mansions had boundaries; rather they were visible stars

in the sky. These ancient mansion systems all began with Alcyone in the

Pleiades (according to Vivian Robson) rather than with Aldebaran (Hyades).

Both, however, are in the constellation and sidereal sign of Taurus.

Modern western astrologers made these into 28 equal mansions with

boundaries that are a bit difficult to calculate since 28 does not divide

equally into 360 degrees. Apparently a few western siderealists explored

these 28 mansions since I have a photocopied manuscript on these mansions

by John Mazurek, who was once the Director of the San Francisco School of

Sidereal astrology. In India from ancient times they went one better and

made the mansions into 27 equal segments of 13 deg 20 min each. There is no

record of how or why this was done.

Now, it happens that these 27 equal mansions bring out some very important

locations for primary stars such as Aldebaran, Antares, and Spica. Using

the traditional Spica zodiac (adjusted for Krishnamurti), stars zero in on

these centers and boundaries of the signs and 27 mansions:

Mathematical Center of Rohini (#4): 16Ta40; ALDEBARAN: 16Ta02

Center of Chitra (and also Virgo-Libra junction) (#14): 0 Libra; SPICA: 29

59 Virgo (Lahiri) or Libra 05 (Krishnamurti) ***the only place in the

zodiac where a major ecliptic star is an important mansion AND sign marker***

Center of Magha (#10) 6Le40; REGULUS: 6Le04

Boundary of mansions #17 and #18 in Scorpio: 16Sc40; ANTARES: 16Sc0

In addition:

Boundary of #1 and #2: 13Ar20; HAMAL (Alpha Aries): 13Ar54

Boundary of #4 and #5: 23Ta20; RIGEL (Beta Orion): 23Ta04

Center of #7: 26Ge40; CASTOR (Alpha Gem): 26Ge09

Center of #8: 10Cn0; AL TARF (Beta Cn): 10Cn30

There are quite a few other boundary and center mansion hits, along with

sign boundaries, some very near the ecliptic (dimmer but named stars) and

some with more latitude (bright stars such as Markab, alpha Pegasus).

Maybe these ‘hits' are only coincidence, or perhaps they suggest that we

need to look at a zodiac that the cosmos may have set long ago. I know of

no way to test a sidereal zodiac except by looking at the harmonic charts

such as the navamsa or dwad. First we have to determine if a planet in a

particular sign sub-division has a particular meaning (within a specified

group such as homosexuals or a profession) and then we have to look at the

patterns for this planet in the different sidereal zodiacs. There is about

a nine degree navamsa difference in the Fagan-Bradley and Lahiri or

Krishnamurti zodiacs.

I've always been bothered by the claim that Aldebaran and Antares marked

the centers of sidesreal Taurus/Scorpio, but I've never seen any support

for this.

Therese,

Hard to argue with these observations - Fascinating! Thanks for

doing the work, and showing that different perspectives yield

different realities, even when using the same template.

Today's a good time to mention that Saddama invaded Kuwait just after

a lunar occultation of Antares, and that the cornerstone of the UN

building in New York was laid under another lunar occultation of

Antares; most nuclear charts of prominence have energy on the axis of

Antares/Aldebaran. My favorite example is the French detonation of

the nuclear bomb named " Antares " that took place when Aldebaran was

culminating. Now, what might #4, #17 and #18 have to do with all

that?

Love,

Ed K

And when the Columbia exploded, Mars was only 7 minutes from the zodiacal

conjunction to Antares, both conjunct the MC, Ketu (Moon's south node)

conjunct the MC to the west, Pluto conjunct Mars.

What of the coming 48 hours?
