What predictive techniques are you talking about? If you mean dasa-bhukti periods, you are correct that only the correct ayanamsa and the best timing (360 or 365 day year) will give the true results. The problem is that astrologers disagree on how to interpret dasas and sub periods. The predictive Varshaphal (sidereal solar return) does not depend on the ayanamsa unless the ascendant or planets change signs in the varshaphal chart. Transits also remain the same with all ayanamsas as long as the same ayanamsa is used for the natal chart and transiting planets.
