Why isn't there a universally accepted ayanamsa value among >sidereal astrologers? Because no one has done enough research to prove that one ayanamsa works better than another. Perhaps Mr. K.N. Rao and his students have done more research than anyone else, but their methods need further development. Examples given in TIMING EVENTS THROUGH VIMSHOTTARI DASA deal with the position of planets in the divisional charts, but each chart is unique and much more research is needed. Also Rao's books suffer from lack of good English editing. Mr. Rao may be correct in his approach, but the planets in divisional charts need to be organized into a system. For example, rather than citing one or two charts in the death of a parent, 20 or 30 charts are needed (as a beginning) with the appropriate death pattern showing consistently in the parental chart, the dwadasamsa. However Mr. Rao and his students are to be commended for their dedication to study and research. They don't take astrological tenets for granted. >4. The predictive portion of astrology as reflected in the dasas is nebulous at best with or without the 'right' ayanamsa. Often there is as lot of overlap in the dasas and sub-periods with different ayanamsas. The Fagan-Bradley ayanamsa isn't used for Dasa calculation. Solar returns (varshaphal charts) are the same with any ayanamsa and seem to be easier to interpret than dasas and sub-periods.
