I tracked this down. Aug 19 438 BC turns out to be JD 1561673 if you use Julian date reckoning, but 1561678 if you use Gregorian reckoning. Since the Gregorian calendar is our standard civil calendar (since the 16th to 18th century depending on where you live), I've left that as the default, but I've added a command-line switch ( " -cjul " ) to specify that the Julian calendar should be used. By request I've also added a switch ( " -zlahiri " ) to specify use of the Lahiri ayanamsa instead of Fagan-Bradley. Guest guest
Hi, Jesse, thanks for the fix, now I can use the Athena chart easily in sidereal. It so happens that the quick Lahiri switch is something I have wanted, because I'm not swift at the mental arithmetic of changing offsets. I am currently working with a chart that has its moon on a nakshatra boundary which I assume is Lahiri and I want to see what happens when I shift ayanamshas, now I won't have to deal with those pesky seconds. Terese's work suggested to me that such charts could provide a test of zodiacs. Jerry
