(The asterisks above are mine.) This fact seems to have escaped the attention of most western sidereal astrologers. It is one of the main reasons as to why I decided to work with the True Ayanamsa (as some call it) rather than the SVP. But this is of course a matter of great debate. I just like the fact that Spica is visible and 'there.' Moreover as a student of the metaphysical philosophy of Rudolf Steiner I find it to be profoundly symbolic that the Roman Empire was divided by the Emperor Diocletian into East and West in 285 AD, later leading to the Eastern and Western Christian churches. The tropical and the sidereal zodiacs coincided in the year 285 AD when the Lahiri Ayanamsa was zero. Steiner considered Diocletian an 'initiate' and the division of the Roman Empire predestined. From Steiner's perspective the year 285 AD marks an important development in the historical and spiritual life of world civilization. Dr. Samuel Sagan of the 'Clairvision School' in Australia refers to the Lahiri ayanamsa as the True Ayanamsa. I would not suggest that there is a 'true ayanamsa' but I would assert it. I would also assert that most western sidereal astrologers would not agree with my assertion any more than they would agree with the assertions of Hindu astrologers like Dr. Choudhry to the effect that the Lahiri ayanamsa is the true ayanamsa. > Diocletion an initiate? Do you believe in predetermination? IS life as we know it predestined? I do not know. I have an opinion but an opinion is not knowledge per se. I 'believe' in order and chaos. I 'believe' that the large brush strokes are predestined but the actual details of the picture are not. > After reading the above links I didn't get the feeling of 285 AD being significant as a time when sidereal and tropical calculations shared something syncronistic. It is not a matter of feeling but of historical fact. There are several sources which attest to this -- even on the internet. Here is just one: http://campus.northpark.edu/history/WebChron/Mediterranean/LaterRome.Chron.html Quote: '285: The Emperor Diocletian Divides the Roman Empire' That is about as simple and straightforward as it gets. Anyone who would " assert " that their opinion is the only truth is ignorant. Uh-huh. Anyone who would use the relatively innocuous opinions held by another as a basis for referring to that individual as 'ignorant' needs to run, not walk, to a good therapist. The rest of your remarks do not merit any further comment on my part -- now or at any time in the future. Andrew
