Guest guest
Dear Elisabeth ... You bring up a very good point about the planets in the houses. I have Sun and Mercury (which is my asc ruler) in the 4th house. I have spent most of my adult life in, or at least near, the home. Even my " career " , if you could call it that, was performed in my home (I ran a small day care business). Not only that, but I am a very private person, not public as one with a 10th Sun should be. Now that I'm thinking about it, some other charts are coming to mind. I have a sister in law with Sun in the 4th, and Moon, which rules asc, in 10th. She also has Mars in 1st, like you. Does she stay home or have a career? Mostly the former. She would have loved a career, even graduated from law school and passed the bar, but personal circumstances didn't allow her to follow the career path. She does much volunteer work, which she perfoms with professional zeal, but most of what she does is centered in the home. One of my sons has a 10th house Moon, also Cancer rising, and at 27 he hasn't gotten off the ground where a career is concerned. But, his 10th house ruler is weak in the 3rd house. His Sun is in the 2nd and he sings well, cooks well, and has very close relationships with family (voice, food, and family all come under the 2nd house in Vedic astrology). Now, I would think that the Sun, since it has to do with creative energy, is where the " heart " is. That's what we take to like a duck to water. Or what we do naturally. But circumstances don't always allow us to do what we do naturally or what we would most like to do. There are so many variables, too, like whether planets (esp. Sun, Moon, or asc. ruler) are in their rulership, exaltation, or fall, and whether or not they're afflicted by malefics or helped by benefics. Take a stack of charts of people you know and see if where the Sun is has to do with what areas of life they are most comfortable with. I'll bet in 10 years you'll be doing something that's both a career and what you enjoy. Bettina zqh_elisabeth [zqh_elisabeth] Monday, March 08, 2004 1:30 PM Planets in houses: fate or disposition? Do planets in houses say something about our natural tendencies/disposition, or do they say more about what will *happen* to us despite our natural tendencies? I'll give an example. I have the moon and venus conjunct in Aries in the 10th house. This is made prominent by the fact that the Moon is in mutual reception with Mars in Cancer in the 1st. I guess this should mean that I'm focused on the public sphere of life and have a strong urge to establish a career out in the world, etc. This hasn't happened yet, but I admit I'm still in my mid-twenties and it might happen later. But disposition-wise, I'm not career oriented. I've always found it difficult to relate to very driven, high-achieving, professional types. This is probably why politics doesn't interest me much, because the political world is full of such people. Most of the problems I have in life right now comes from the fact that I'm *opposite* from what is indicated by my 10th house Moon. It's embarassing, but I'll admit that I'm actually under-achieving, dependent, and lack knowledge about the way the real world works. I feel a bit nervious even when I have to go to the bank, because I'm not quite sure how banks are supposed to work. Things like banks, careers, the professional world, money, politics, etc., don't seem natural to me (maybe necessary, but not natural). They're not part of our imagination or what we can naturally understand with our minds before having learned the rules and customs. Rules and customs come from outside, not part of what we naturally have in our minds. If I had my way, I'd just spend my life thinking, or doing simpler or more natural things, like planting flowers, writing, painting, understanding people.... But then I do have a Sun-Ketu conjunction. Elisabeth " How can Pluto be in Sagittarius when it's so close to Antares?
