Guest guest
Zorak, I think there is an error in Aldebaran. I calculated my Athena chart for Aug 19 438BCE (-437) and the results differ from Astrolog, which generally agrees with astro.com. I find that the jdn is several days different. I have an independent jdn calculation program I put on my unix shell account and it agrees with Astrolog. Astrolog: 1561673.6514 [cutter.rexx.com</home/cutter/glk> jday -437 8 19 5:12:00 1561673.748333 Aldebaran: 19 Aug 438 BC 05:12:00 GMT +1:20 (JD: 1561678.660833) Seems like exactly 5 days. I have just dl'd the ephemeris files into a subdirectory of Aldebaran named " Ephemerides " , as recommended. I also dl'ed them into the a541fwin directory for Astrolog and set =b in astrolog.dat. Thanks for the clear lead to the files. I dl'd the files using the freeware ncftp " mget " command at the command prompt and I recommend it to all over a tedious one-by-one get of the files. BTW, the Aldebaran shortcut icon is a beauty on the desktop. Jerry

Aldebaran uses the Swiss Ephemeris' Julian date calculator, like Astrolog 5.41 does, so there shouldn't be any discrepancy. I will investigate this soon. Perhaps additional date manipulation needs to be done for dates in the distant past. (PS: I apologize for my slow response; I've been extraordinarily busy lately.) > Thanks for the clear lead to the files.
