Hi All.

There is another astrologer " Janduz " who wrote a book on degrees

A lady/friend/astrologer (deceased last year just before Christmass)

owned such a book and our Society of Astrologers enherited all her books

and research. I am going to fetch it next month to take a look into it.

She was a tropicalist and later on I realized that she worked only with

the aspects between planets. No difference is there in the nature

of planetes either in tropical or sidereal zodiac.

Occasionally I read these books on degrees, but since I researched

on Lahire Ayamsa I recognize myself at last, in these degrees. Indeed it

is hard to apprise them, practical astrologers need more security and these

degrees are strongly mystical directed (Neptunial).

Here in Holland astrologers adore/adored Dane Rudhyar's books.I have

been awful mad at him, after reading in one of his books his advise to avoid

the sidereal zodiac! So then I understood why friend-astrologers were so

hard

to draw their interest for the sidereal zodiac.

I have another book on degrees of the zodiac. Mohan Koparkar PH.D.

whose degrees tell about the mutual behaviour of partners in marriage.

The background of their actions and non-actions. Very intersting to get

insight in marriage problems. My opinion is only that I have to be quite

careful. Natives themselves first should admit the truth of it in order

to improve their marriage and get themselves accepted -vice versa- with

this truth. How many marriages would be saved with this knowledge?

I have not seen Matthews yet neither Charubel, but I did not read

them yet.

--

This just shows how muddle headed astrologers can be. I never say, " I'm an

astrologer. " I say that I'm a student who researches astrology.

>That is the same with me. Besides that, people are more interested to

>hear about the results of the research.

17 sidereal Virgo: " Progressive: Often interested in child welfare, hygiene

or social service. "

Hi Therese.In Annie Besant's chart

I have Moonnode (Lahiri) 18° Virgo in Annie Besants chart, which

tells:

" Human desire for contact with the beyond. " Inquiry. Restless

questioning

of superficial facts of being. Immature curiosity. "

Venus 19° Virgo " Social sustainment of individual accomplishment. "

Encouragement.Competition as a means to create group-consciousness. "

That could be her managements in the Theosophical Movement.

Thank you, Anny, but I need more perseverance to finish all the zodiac

signs!!

My experience is, Therese, that a pause in work is sometimes requirable

for

one reason or the other. Later you discover why. Besides that, it is a

busy

time of research on the election etc etc. It ennerves me a great deal not

casting these happenings for study, while other work/research is

waiting.

Are you saying that you use Marc Edmund Jones' degree book as a SIDEREAL

book without changing the degrees?

I only heard of Marc Edmund Jones co operation on degrees of the zodiac.

That was in the 1990 years. I have not his book. Only Dane Rudhyar's

Sabian Symbols. Do you know if these are Marc Edmund's symbols perhaps?

It was an experiment to read degrees with sidereal charts as mine and

family; indeed I recognized myself better in the degree than formerly

tropical. So I expect that I am on the right track, since then.

----------

---

Do you read the book in English, or is it translated into your own

language? I have much trouble understanding the way Jones writes. Too many

big words and complex sentences! I cannot read the book.

The books I have are all in English language. Rarely English astrology

books are translated, because it is not easy. We are taught English,

but more conversational English. Here the English books are much cheaper

than translations. In the ninety years astrology books are translated,

occasionally.

RE: Marc Edmund Jones Degrees (Anny)

Hi Cynthia. It seems that I am always pushed into the opportunity to

meet such interesting books on sale. In my country -visiting congresses

sometimes- there were books secondhand/for sale. An known astrologer

(merely for hobby and teaching) sought these books in secondhand shops

for usm, in free time. He was quite loved for that in our country.

Strangely, I was fascinated by the fixed stars and kept some old references

on them from the 70's. Initially, I just could not make sense of the

nakshatras, but had to learn them. They started to fall into place and keep

doing so. I guess eventually the symbols start to come together for me, or

maybe deities or maybe I'm just Neptune challenged.

Hi Cynthia! That could be quite true, because these symbols are written down

by Neptune influenced people. It is luck for your too to have the h in

your name. You may profit from it. It creates power of observation and

give balance in cash --purchases. The Y is Neptune (inspiration)

In the meantime, I just ask that insight come in simple sentences.

smiles and appreciation

That is quite right.People love that better than many words.

Blessings from Anny

There are still all kinds of siderealists. Some of us use Placidian houses

and pant after sign symbolism as well as angularity. In fact it was only

Sidereal that brought me to a warm appreciation of Tropical astrology.

I see the former as skye zodiac and the latter as earth zodiac. I swim

in both schools.

Dark*Star

Hi Dark*Star. Indeed I discovered that most sidereal interested

astrologers

do. My Scorpio influenced Moon simply threw out the tropical zodiac once I

discovered

the great difference in delineation. After 15 years of tropical I

experienced great

joy reading charts at ease.

Dane Rudhyar is 100 percent Tropical. Many Tropical astrologers make him

into a God.

This is a strange book. Koparkar says he figured out the degree meanings on

a mathematical basis. His PhD was in engineering. The degrees are 'fixed'

for 1940. He gives instructions for adjusting the degrees in other years

for precession. Does this mean the degrees in this book are really sidereal

degrees adjusted for the Tropical zodiac?

In THE ASTROLOGY OF PERSONALITY Rudhyar condensed the Jones' Sabian

Symbols. From the Tropical internet discussion lists I learned that Rudhyar

wrote a more detailed degree symbol book. I haven't seen that book.

Blessings,

Therese

Hi,

It was Koparkar who once asked me didn't I know that every village

in India has its own ayanamsa.

My interest in that subject evaporated immediately.

Mohan solves all problems mathematically.

I have the Vintage Books edition of " An Astrological Mandala : The Cycle

of Transformations and its 360 Symbolic Phases " (ISBN 0-394-71992-1). It is

very well thought out but you may be put off by his recommending it for

astromancy besides astrology proper. Astrologically Dane Rudhyar writes that

" the

symbol of the degree on which a natal planet is located ... in many instances

points to a quality which the individual has not been able to apply in the

exercise of the planetary function to which it refers. "
