Hi Chris,

I looked into this some years ago. I have both books. First we have Isidore

Kominsky who wrote his book c.1917. Kozminsky states that his book is the

result of his researches with thousands of charts. This is a doubtful claim

in the age before computers. I expect he had psychic help of some sort.

Perhaps he didn't want to admit this. He never states that he's using

Tropical degrees. His introduction is rather flowery, similar to writing of

that period. The address given at the end of his preface is Melbourne,

Australia.

There's no reason to believe that Kozminsky's degrees were not meant to be

Tropical.

So Jain, in his typical way, came across a copy of Kozminsky's book (AFA).

He did not change the degrees to the sidereal. In his book 17 Virgo is

still the astrologer seated at his desk. He changed a few words here and

there and added some additional notes, no doubt copied from some other source.

I'm rushed this morning and don't have time to read Jain's preface. So I'll

report on what he says later.

The interesting fact is that Richard Houck, who seemed always to be correct

in his political predictions, including " Bush already knows he's going to

be president " prior to the election in 2000, used Jain's book and insisted

the degrees worked in the sidereal zodiac. I corresponded with Rick about

this. He gave convincing examples. After exchanging letters with Dave at

AstroAmerica.com, who sold Kozminsky's book, I informed Rick that Jain's

book was indeed a copy of Kozminsky. To quote Dave:

" Kozminsky makes no reference to Tropical or Sidereal zodiacs...Kozminsky

cites all manner of sources in his book, including Brihat Jataka. Without

other instructions, we may presume that his book is Tropical, whereas the

same definitions are mysteriously sidereal in Jain's version... "

If you want to know anything about any book, just ask Dave! I'll let you

know about Jain's preface later.
