Guest guest
Hi Everyone, It's been quiet here for several days, so I'll try to add a little life by suggesting an approach to the logic of sidereal Taurus. If anyone can shoot down the theories and examples in this article, I welcome your comments on this list. Please see: http://users.snowcrest.net/sunrise/LostZodiac.htm Click on TAURUS. Guest guest
Hi Therese, I have just started to study Jyotish and I must say that your website is an excellent introduction to Jyotish! Thanks for sharing this. Guest guest
Dear Therese, Great web site!! And I love the info on the trigons...I think that is such an important thing to consider in a chart and often not given enough weight (well, at least in my personal experience with Jyotish). I look forward to reading more of your articles. I've always felt that the standard Jyotish textbook material on the zodiac signs is either fairly bad, innaccurate or just not there. Since I have a solid Tropical astrology background plus even more years working with Jyotish, I thought I'd better do something about those sidereal signs! I hope to get another article or two posted this weekend. (Keeping my fingers crossed that there won't be any interruptions...) I'm sorry that my program has put some kind of location information at the top of the pages when they're printed. I don't know how to get rid of that locale line. Please feel free to give your opinion, whether you agree or disagree with concepts in the articles. I'm finding that the new names in astrology (as are on this discussion list) are people who are much more open to innovative ideas about the sidereal/Jyotish signs (meaning the sign descriptions aren't in the standard books). But I've studied people and thought about the Jyotish signs since...well sometime late in the 70s. I was a Tropical astrologer for 10 years before that. On one western sidereal site where I posted the Lost Zodiac link, a few oldtimers have been very scornful. If not, they don't bother to check out any of the articles (too busy, maybe...) So thanks again! Therese
Guest guest
Dear Therese, How wonderful that you've been at this for so many years - I look forward to learning from your ideas on this list and on your site! Its a shame that you had to face scornful comments. I am a big believer in keeping an open mind. Its one of the reason's I like Mark's ideas for this list so much...an evolutionary approach to astrology and combining the best of the east and west. I always think of Jyotish's definition as 'the science of light'....and the fact that light is always moving, is fluid and illuminating new areas, new potential....not static, stagnant, closed off in dark rigidity. I know one Jyotishi who calls himself a "Ketu" style astrologer, i.e., always learning, going deeper, going with the flow, willing to change. Love that. And Mark's mention in his transit report today of Moon in Pisces had me thinking about Pisces as the final house of the zodiac and its being about fluidity, expansiveness and imagination - the all encompassing ocean at the end of the journey. Again, not rigid, not static. Hmm...laughing at myself...obviously I'm in a philosophic Piscean mood today! :-) I only have Robert Hand's book on Planets in Transit (and confess to only having skimmed it) as I don't really do western astrology, but your positive mention of his book on symbols in the article on the Sun and Moon has inspired me to go looking for it on the web this afternoon. Guest guest
Hi Therese, Thanks again! I should pay you for providing free and very clear Jyotish lessons ;-) Anne , Therese Hamilton <eastwest@s...> wrote: > At 06:41 AM 4/17/04 -0000, Anne wrote: > >Hi Therese, > > > >I have just started to study Jyotish and I must say that your > >website is an excellent introduction to Jyotish! Encouragement and appreciation are worth a lot more than dollars and cents! I have some old Jyotish lessons I'd like to give to anyone who's interested, so when I can get them together, I'll post a message here. I had a correspondence course before the flood of Jyotish books came out in the west. James Braha's book was the first in 1986. I can hardly believe it was that long ago. I had the book partly finished that he wrote! But I wasn't going to include all the traditional negatives from India. Therese
