Fagan-Constellation symbolism

Could one of our dedicated siderealists please answer a question for me? I

just found a book in my bookcase that I didn't know I had: Moray Series

#6, THE SYMBOLISM OF THE CONSTELLATIONS by Cyril Fagan.

Does anyone know if this is Fagan's last word on the sidereal signs? I

haven't been able to access the sidereal board (this board) because

tells me I'm not a member. I keep trying to register, then

tells me my password isn't valid. I tried a new name, etc....nothing works.

So I gave up.

Anyhow, my question relates to Fagan's book. It's a photocopy.

I'd also appreiciate it if someone would post on this board the article

someone mentioned. Something about being a Sag instead of a Cappy.

Thanks,

Terese

Wow. the Moray Series was put out by Fagan with R C Firebrace and Mary Austin

out of London, the latter two I met on a trip to England and Holland in 1971,

and helped them put together an edition of their Sidereal quarterly review

called " SPICA " . I wonder if #6 is material that was reprised in Astrological

Origins? As far as accessing the .... i have had many problems

with the password thing. Best thing to do is to sign up again and give

yourself a new password and probably make up a new screen-name just for these

mailings (that is if your isp allows more than one screen name per account).

You can also try to click the " forgot password? " button. I'm forever losing

mine (doesn't that figure!). Would interested in learning more about eh Moray

Series #6 as well.

Hey, Chris, I have some of those editions of SPICA! And issues of three

other sidereal magazines, too. I even wrote articles for a couple of them

way back when...it seems so long ago. I don't have time right now to

compare all the details of ASTROLOGICAL ORIGINS with MORAY #6, but just

checking a few things: #6 was published in 1962 and AO in 1971, and

checking what Fagan says about the signs, it looks like #6 was the

foundation of the later AO. Some is the same, but he made some changes too.

#6 has lots of info on various topics. This must be one of the first

sources of Fagan's ideas about Libra being the first sign of the zodiac.

It's interesting that when Fagan talks about the zodiac signs he divides

them into nocturnal and diurnal houses for the planets, but it's a

different division than the standard one found in the old Hellenistic

texts. In #6 he also talks about the triplicities and quadruplicities of

the signs, a la Ptolemy.

Interesting book. Too bad you don't live next door. You'd enjoy looking

through the book, ...all typewritten and none too good a typewriter either.

This book (121 typed pages) might be somewhat like a draft for AO and

Fagan's American Astrology articles (The Solunars Handbook).
