Guest guest
I suppose some people on this board wonder why I reply to Ed's posts, which sometimes seem to be geared up for argument or even a fight. (O.K. maybe that's an understatement...) I reply because a Devil's Advocate is the best friend an astrologer can have, especially a research astrologer. If we can't give some evidence for what we believe or think we know, then our astrology isn't worth much. Both Tropical and Western Sidereal astrologers love to stand up and shout about how their signs work, but I have yet to see research evidence for signs of the zodiac. Sidereal return charts, yes, but in general you can read those charts without taking signs into consideration. I believe that Western sidereal astrologers (including the hallowed Fagan et al) have made the same mistake as Tropical astrologers--placing way too much emphasis on what they see as the psychology of the signs. Western sidereal astrologers could have shown evidence for their signs long ago if they had stayed with basic sign symbolism related to activities and life circumstances. As soon as they write elaborate treatises on sign psychology, they fall into the same pit as Tropical astrologers. So here's a start in this post as to what the signs might really mean. I pulled up every chart in the Rodden/McDonough database (which is the best sampling we have at this time) that had the Moon and Venus in sidereal Aries, Taurus, and Gemini in the Ascendant sign. By default this will also give us the Moon positions in Tropical Taurus, Gemini and Cancer. I chose these signs because Ed pointed out that Michael Fox had his Moon-Venus in Tropical Taurus, and Taurus is a strong sign for Venus (own sign) and the Moon (exaltation). So if signs mean anything at all, something should show up here. I've put the Tropical signs in parentheses after the sidereal positions. The Tropical sign will depend on the year of birth. I don't want this post to be too long, so I'll post the Moon-Venus signs/degrees and bios in a separate post. Terese

" I don't want to end up interpreting this how I want it to read so I will ask Terese to further clarify. Are you saying that you want the Sidereal writers to give basic sign by sign descriptions of what each sign is, how it relates to the original symbology and give personal examples? *****/////Damon Terese Hamilton <eastwest wrote: I suppose some people on this board wonder why I reply to Ed's posts, which sometimes seem to be geared up for argument or even a fight.
