Planets, Signs and Damon

Damon has posted his birth data and some biographic details, so let's look

at his horoscope. (September 12, 1972, 21:30, Kansas City, MO) I'm using

the Krishnamurti ayanamsa. Planetary positions will be 59 minutes greater

than with the Fagan-Bradley ayanamsa. I generally just make the mental

adjustment of 1 degree from Fagan-Bradley to Krishnamurti.

16Aries31 rises. The first thing I look for is any planets close to 16

degrees in any sign. There is only one planet, Venus at 12 Cancer. This

tells me that Venus activities will be important in the life.

" Besides my true talent is in computer illustration and graphic design. "

" ...and [i've] had success with the opposite and same sex... "

(Also note that the 10th lord, Saturn [10th is ‘what one does,'] is in

Taurus, a sign of Venus. This makes the angular Venus the dispositor of

Saturn--describes how Saturn manifests.)

Also note that Venus is in mutual reception to the Moon in Libra in the 7th

(sex and relationships). So the only planets that Venus disposits relate to

Saturn (10th and 11th lord...11th is income) and the 7th. (Nothing here

about the personality or temperament.)

Then I set up a second chart, either mentally or on paper. This is the Moon

chart, the chart for the personality. The Moon is at 27Libra38.

Whoa....what do we have!! A very close sextile from the Sun at 27 Leo

conjunct Mars at 25 Leo. This makes a VERY strong Mars-Sun influence on the

personality (because they both closely aspect the Moon and they're both in

a strong sign for their expression).

" I have always been bossy, athletic, proud, bold...Not to mention a quick

temper and an eagerness to engage in fisticuffs with the largest competitor

I could find. "

Mercury at 21 Leo happens to be conjunct Mars, so we have the rough

language this guy uses (apparently with ease).

(Note that I've used planetary dispositors and the position of Venus in

relation to the ascendant degree, but haven't given any special qualities

to the signs as such.)

Just for fun let's record the Moon's nakshatra influence from DeFouw's

LIGHT ON LIFE. This nakshatra (lunar mansion) is the true location of the

stars of Libra, the scales in the sky.

" Vishakha is the conqueror, fixated on defeating rivals. Goals form one of

the primary meanings of this nakshatra...they tend to present their

findings so aggressively that they alienate rivals... "

If we take the symbolism of the starry scales, they have to do with

justice, with balancing the scales (violently if necessary). Getting even

maybe, setting everything right.

I don't agree with a lot of what DeFouw says about the nakshatras, but

sometimes he's fairly accurate.

-----

This is a strongly masculine chart. Mercury/Mars/Sun/Moon/Jupiter/Rahu/Ketu

are all in masculine signs. Masculine signs are generally self-motivated

and do their own thing. Autonomous. I wouldn't want to be this guy's

girlfriend. Yet he WILL find women (and men?) attracted to him because of

the prominent Venus.

" (Re: relationships)... " I just don't let everyone in my head to manipulate

what they read. "

Now in addition I consider the navamsa chart. More masculine signs: Leo

rises and the Sun is in Sagittarius. This Sun closely opposes the Moon, so

we are going to get an even stronger solar influence on the personality

(see Damon's Sun-Mars comments above).

There is no doubt that Mars is a potent planet for Damon. In the navamsa

chart Mars is at **16** degrees of Scorpio...very strong in Scorpio AND

right on the natal 8th cusp. Same degree as the ascendant (an example of

why I changed to the Krishnamurti ayanamsa....this Mars would be far from a

natal cusp using the Fagan/Bradley ayanamsa.)

Now Leo itself MAY have its own attributes. They would be like Virgo in the

Tropical zodiac, that is, dedication to work and accomplishment, an ability

to organize. (Tropical Virgo isn't detail conscious no matter what all the

books say.) Mercury rules details.

Damon works with computer design. Are computers Uranian? If so, Uranus

rises in Leo in the navamsa chart and of course is in the same sign as

natal Mercury/Mars/Sun.

I do make a separation between activities (related to the ascendant) and

personality (related to the Moon). I would not give any particular traits

to the Aries ascendant because there are no planets there. What matters is

that the ascendant lord Mars is in Leo conjunct a powerful Sun and both

aspect the Moon. ALSO...the navamsa ascendant degree is 28 Leo, very close

to the natal Sun-Mars conjunction.

So in this sidereal chart there is a quadruple whammy involving the Sun and

Mars.

Thank you for doing those calculations for me Terese.

" Mercury at 21 Leo happens to be conjunct Mars, so we have the rough

Not only am I an Air Force brat, I have been in several military schools and

athletics teams. Rough language is just what comes out when there are nothing

but a bunch of guys together. I am still trying to get a mental picture of my

friends, associates and tropical astrology advocates so it is hard for me to

understand anyone that doesn't speak with unrestrained emotion (rough language)

" I wouldn't want to be this guy's

girlfriend. Yet he WILL find women (and men?) attracted to him because of

the prominent Venus. "

Why don't you ask her she is a member of the group. (mhawk81082)_

Most of the women in my family (my grandmother, my mother, 8 aunts, 10 female

cousins and my older half sister) have masculine tendencies) I can't shout

louder or talk more than they can.

" Vishakha is the conqueror, fixated on defeating rivals. Goals form one of

the primary meanings of this nakshatra...they tend to present their

findings so aggressively that they alienate rivals... "

This describes the style of conversation most used by my grandmother and aunts.

Mhawk and I have a question. How do we find Rahu and Ketu in our charts? What

do they symbolize?

The enclosed file has no significance to astrology it is just some of our early

digital photography. I have gotten a lot better since this one.

Thanks again Terese, *****/////Michelle (August 10 1982, Barberton, Ohio; 7:30
