Guest guest
Greetings Anny & All, I am a student and still learning. I don't think that all Vedic astrologers use the same methods. Some do consider the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto. But here is something to consider. Vedic astrology is thousands of years old. The outer planets have only been discovered through high-powered telescopes within the past hundred or so years. They cannot be observed with the naked eye, and so they have not been part of our collective experience for very long, and even now most of us are not having a direct experience of them. I have found the value of Vedic astrology to be that it is based largely in observable reality, and that is why it uses the sideral zodiac of the fixed stars and not the tropical zodiac of the more elusive solar wheel. It is great to have a physical experience of the planets and the stars. This is the direction my studies are taking me, and I recommend it to all astrologers. Have you ever seen Jupiter or Saturn in the sky? Can you recognize the constellations of the zodiac? I am still learning, and appreciate tips and ideas regarding sky watching. Mars is now exalted in Capricorn. The warrior is armed. Hopefully we will all use our power responsibly, and not be too trigger happy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ David Ray Woodstock, NY 12498 bluerodent ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----Original Message Follows---- " Anny van Berckel " <avbdk Uranian Astrology Sun, 21 Oct 2001 17:09:23 +0100 Hail all Practicing Uranian astrology I am asking you, why the Vedic astrology do not consider Uranus and Neptune etc valuable? David, I am using Halloran software to produce sidereal charts - I have the Delta set at 3 degrees and 8 minutes EAST per a friend's suggestion. These settings produce a chart which has Mars currently at 28 Sag. Jeff.
Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate ParamguraveDear Rajarshi, NamasteIm sure the ancients were aware of the Outer 'Planets'. Pluto was discovered in 1930 by Clyde Tombaugh, but its been purported that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur (Srila Prabhupada's Guru) a great Jyotishi of his time, discovered it the year before, so he ust have know about Uranus and Neptune as well. Given what we know today with the reclassification of Pluto, vedic astrollogers knew all along that it did not conform to the definition of graha anyway. Having said this, the great Rishis knew more than just the outer planets - they knew of other planetary systems and were able to travel there.Im sure others will enlighten us more on what they know about outer planets. Best WishesBipin2008/8/29 rajarshi14 <rajarshi14 Dear Members Can someone tell me whether in ancient india, the outr planets were known? Is there any mention of the outer planets in any of our ancient texts, not just jyotish but also astronomy or anythinG?
