Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to the list. My nephew who is 13 asked how astrology can work if we are the next sign in the zodiac, not the one we are born with. I read the introduction to this group and thought someone here might know. I looked in the Files section but didnt see any info on precession correction. Is Sidereal astrology different from Western astrology? I thought that the precession correction meant that we " have " the same sun sign as we were born with. Can any help? thanks, Catherine

In tropical astrology, the Northern Hemisphere's Vernal Equinox point is 0* Aries, regardless of its backards movement along the ecliptic (apprx 1* every 72 years). In sidereal astrology (at least in the western version), Aldebaran is 15* Taurus, regardless of its distance from the Northern Hemisphere's Vernal Equinox point. > I read the introduction to this group and thought > someone here might know. Some tropicalists, like Robert Hand, have followed Jim Eshelman's lead in correcting for precession within the tropical framework. And, if you have astrology software, it's really very simple. 1) Using the Sidereal Zodiac setting, cast the person's birth chart & save it. 2) While still in Sidereal mode, calculate their transits. 3) Go to the Tropical mode, and cast Tropical charts for the times of the transits in question. > Is Sidereal astrology different from Western > astrology? It has a very good help section with lots of explanations for everything under the Sun, including the difference between Tropical and Sidereal astrology. http://www.clairvision.org/ Here is a link to the Canopus Academy where you can get 10 free beginning astrology lessons online. http://www.panplanet.com/ I hope this helps you.
