Guest guest
Hello Kevin, What's so special about the different dates that a planet is rising to determine the exaltation degree. I don't know the origin of the exaltation but once read an article or a book (don't remember) that these points were related to their aspects (conjuction, opposition or sextile) to important fixed stars like Antares, Aldebaran, Deneb Alghedi, Baten Keitos and others. This idea seems more attractive unless the dates you give have a special meaning Margarita

Silly me... got so excited I left that part out! In the year 786BCE (which my software refers to as -0785), there was an eclipse of the Moon, visible in Babylon, on or about the Vernal Equinox (the North Node being less than a degree away from 0* Sidereal Aries). This was also the year the Bablyonians erected a temple to Nabu, the god of astrology. All such phenomena being considered " good omens, " the longitudes at which the stars made their heliacal risings or settings that year became their " exalted degrees.
