Sandy, according to my program, (Parashara's Light)you have Gemini rising with both Mars and Saturn in that sign. The reason for this rather than the Cancer asc as you thought, is that you were born during WWII and it was double day-light savings. With both malefics in the asc that wld make for dark circumstances indeed, esp during the early years. That wld also point to the birth defect. Did it have to do with the head or face? You also have a Moon/Jupiter cnj, very good for a bright, optimistic mind, positive outlook and high intelligence. Moon is also cnj Pluto in 2nd. Both Moon and 2nd relate to food. Question: do you have, or have you ever had, an eating disorder, like anorexia? Or, do you have strict dietary rules, such as veganism or regular fasting? This is something I've noticed in people with Moon/Pluto cnjs. Exalted Sun in 11th: very good! You should get (or have gotten) pretty much what you want in life; achieve your goals, that sort of thing. I don't see where the devilish husband comes in. Crummy Mom: Mercury in 8th from 4th. Also Mars squares 4th. Mars is an esp. crappy planet for your chart because it rules the 6th and it's in a Mercury(enemy of Mars) ruled sign. Also in your navamsa (9th harmonic), Mercury rules 4th again and it's cnj Saturn in that chart. Many indications of light and darkness are shown here.
