Hello fellow siderealists, and thanks for the invitation to join this group.

As suggested in the welcome letter, I'll briefly introduce myself to the

group, and give my astrological bio.

My birth data is:

Ron Grimes

September 27, 1957

10:12a.m. CDT

Dixon, Illinois

89 W 29; 41 N 50

Using Lahiri Ayanamsha, I have Libra 19:20 rising in the ascendant.

I have been practicing Vedic Astrology for about 6 years now. Initially, I

tried my luck with classical jyotish, but found it to be a ball of

confusion. My apologies to those of you who practice and enjoy the classical

approach. But, I'm simply conveying my personal impression and experience.

I then stumbled across a very clear and concise method for interpreting a

chart - a method that is called the " Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology, "

started by Professor V.K. Choudhry of Gurgaon, India. I became one of his

very first students outside of India, and subsequently became its main

propounder in the west. I started the SATVA list in November 1997 and it now

has over 230 members. Last year, appointed me as the

founding president of the IIPA (International Institute of Predictive

Astrology), which currently has chapters in 8 different countries, including

Canada, the United States, England, France, Malaysia, India, Singapore, and

the United Arab Emirates.

The Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology is really nothing more than a

stripped down (bare bones) version of Parashara's classical Vedic Astrology.

We use the basic elements of astrology without all the impressive,

ego-building jargon that sounds good, but doesn't get the astrologer any

closer to predictive accuracy. Many classical jyotishis say it (SATVA) is

simplistic, but the bottom line is that it works and the client understands

what we're saying. Personally, in the four years I've been using SATVA, I

can objectively document an 85 to 90% predictive accuracy rating. That is

not to my credit or to sound my own horn, since I feel anyone using SATVA

can achieve the same results.

Anyway, that is where I'm coming from. After this introduction, I will not

expend my efforts to proselytize any of you, but SATVA is the technique I

will use if asked to analyze any charts on the list. I hope that is OK with

everyone.

Best Wishes,

Ron Grimes
