Guest guest
And guess what -- non-precessed returns STILL don't work! In the Sept 99 _The Mountain Astrologer_, Lynn Bell, who doesn't correct for precession when she does Solar Returns, told the story of a client who told her " Everything you predicted for me last year is coming true this year! " In any other field, this would be considered proof of gross incompetance. But not in tropical astrology! Instead of getting another astrologer, Ms Bell's client asked if it was possible for Solar Returns to have a " delayed effect " . Ms Bell then went on to rationalize this error with a long and irrelevant discourse on Solar Return Moon placements. The fact is, as Ms Bell revealed in her brief discussion of precession, is that she doesn't know what a " moving " zodiac is. She thinks the _Tropical_ Zodiac is the fixed one, and the _Sidereal_ Zodiac is the one that moves. In reality, it's the other way around -- does anyone really think it's the stars that move around our planet's Equinox points? (Ms Bell also inadvertantly revealed that she hadn't read Jim Eshelman's _Interpreting Solar Returns_ very carefully, either, but that's another story.) Actually, there's a simpler, better explanation of why Ms Bell's forecast was " a year off. " If Ms Bell _had_ corrected for precession, she'd've gotten an accurate prediction for the year in question. As for the client she mentioned, it's pretty obvious that the client was being totally subjective, actually so badly wanting Ms Bell's forecasts to work that, in the client's mind, they were going to work one way or another. Ms Bell isn't the only astrologer like that, and her client isn't the only client like that, either. This is why " it works for me " and " whatever works for you " just isn't good enough.
