Guest guest
I am just getting into Sidereal and am finding many interesting little things. like the man I live with who is born Aug 4 and yet before I knew him I kept thinking he was a Cancer, or at least a Cancer Moon or Rising. Even though he is a big man with a long mane of hair who is happy to be in the spot light and hams it up, superficial Leo qualities, granted...he always feels most comfortable in occupations that focus on food and feeding people, nurturing and caring for them, and he is very watery and emotional, with a profound connection to the ocean and the water in general. When I did his chart initially (Tropical) I did find some Cancer in there, and I just figured on the 'esoteric' interpretation of the sun sign having issues with the energy and natives of the preceding sign, etc. I really think it is interesting to look at his chart Sidereally and think about the very heavy relationship stuff with his mother that he has, and note his tendancy to be very moody and emotional. He is a real Cancer in his heart, and the few Leo qualities he exhibits might actually be the esoteric type associations with the next sign up. And then there is the Cancer I know who is so uncomfortable with the designation of Cancer that he refuses to use that birthdate anymore. He reselected Oct 31 just for fun, but claims to be so much more Virgoan than anything else. Of course, he is a Sidereal Geminii, and his profession of Computer Programmer and his being an occultist and Magician and archivist and very much a writer all fit the Geminii profile. Also you cannot pin him down on plans until the last minute, and his relationships have all been sort of on and off - he is near 40 and never married, and somewhat lonely. He has also never done well living with a lover. Not very Cancer, hmm? Anyway, my being a Sag who hates atheletics used to be a conundrum, until I figured out that Sidereally I am a Scorpio. With my stellium in the 12th in Sag/Scorpio including Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Venus and Neptune along with three asteroids, I was not too surprised. I still have an ascendant of Sag, but the focus of my chart is Scorpio. And this fits, in many ways. What is weird to me is that I have always looked at this 'signs display the qualities of the prior sign' phenomena as some kind of esoteric thing, not knowing about the Sidereal effect. I had a whole philosophy about it and I thought I sort of understood the paradoxes of it. To be honest I am now really going thorugh a sort of mild sense of confusion or even numbness about the vast amount of misinformation which we have most of us been operating under all this time. It is profoundly disconcerting to realize how wrong one has been for awhile, and how one has nevertheless found numerous rationalizations for these errors and flaws of logic. I feel like I am now having to reground myself totally as if I had been trying to navigate San Francisco using a map of San Jose. close but no cigar. Guest guest
Dear Jewel, I recently came across a wonderful Vedic method for comparing couples' charts called the novien or _navamsa_ chart, also called the " ninth harmonic " chart. To construct a ninth harmonic chart, a) Convert all longitudes to 360* format. (Example: a planet at 15 Sco 15 becomes 225.25, since 00 Sco 00 is 210* from 00 Ari 00, and 15/60 = 0.25). b) Divide the new longitude by forty (360/9 = 40). c) Subtract the integer section from the result. (Example: 225.25/40 = 5.63125; 5.63125 - 5 = 0.63125) d) Multiply the decimal remainder by 360. (Example: 0.63125 x 360 = 227.25) e) Reconvert to regular Zodiacal format (227.25 = 17 Sco 15). Do this for both partners, and then compare the interchanges as you would a regular chart comparison. The results can be astounding. I did this for a friend of mine who's getting divorced from a woman who was supposedly VERY compatible with him -- according to their 9th harmonic charts, they were " doomed " to being " just good friends " at best. Then there's the case of my ex-fiancee. We were also supposedly very compatable, but, according to our 9th harmonic charts, it's a miracle we didn't kill each other!
