Guest guest
Hello, all. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Several weeks ago, in response to one of my defenses of the Sidereal Zodiac on astrology , someone said, > I've always " preferred " to drive a Chevy, but I have no problem with > my friends driving a Ford. You have your justifications, and I have > mine. In the end, it doesn't matter. My clients are all the evidence I > need to encourage my " chosen " path. Sidereal vs. Tropical isn't like preferring a Ford to a Chevy. It's like preferring a Mercedes to a one-speed bicycle. Having previously asked this individual what form her _experiments_ with the Sidereal Zodiac had taken (after all, she had said that she tried it and it failed), she responds with > My " experience with sidereal " has taken place through many books, > astrologers, conferences, meetings, consultations and various other > exposures over the 22 years I have been walking this path . . . I said _experiments_, not experience! > By the way, " religion " has nothing to do with it. I simply want to > " know things " that the sidereal chart does not deliver. It gives you > " the facts, Ma'am, nothin' but the facts. " The patriarchal sway of our > culture has taken us into dismemberment. I feel extremely " restricted " > having to read " only " a sidereal chart. I can usually take the threads > of a tropical chart and bring back some profound options for my clients > or myself. I cannot do that with a sidereal chart, particularly with its > inherent philosophy. But that's okay because the siderealists of the > world will be there for me to consult when I need to. I have a friend whose 1993-1994 Sidereal Solar Return predicted her emotional upheavals that year (ie, diagnosed manic-depressive, made a suicide attempt). Her Tropical Solar Return for that year didn't predict it -- in fact, her Tropical Return " predicted " a rather tame year! If I'd used the Tropical Zodiac to do her Solar Return that year, I would have done her a great disservice, and possibly killed her! Then-Princess Elizabeth's 1951-1952 Tropical Solar Return didn't predict her accession to the throne. Her Sidereal Solar Return did. (See John Fibey's _Solar and Lunar Returns_.) And, I hope, you all would recall JFK Jr's Sidereal Solar & Lunar Returns as well as his last ennead. They warned that 1999 would be critical, and that June/July would not be a good month for traveling on or over water. His Tropical returns didn't. In view of these and other examples (I could go on, but for the sake of brevity, I won't), who cares about " what the Tropical Zodiac delivers that the Sidereal Zodiac can't " ? The Tropical Zodiac obviously delivers nothing useful! If astrology is really supposed to help people rather than entertain them, it should be no more about likes & dislikes and personal preferences than medicine. Imagine you're a doctor, and you have a patient who needs an x-ray. The x-ray comes back, showing nothing, but then, while your showing it to your patient, you get a delivery from the hospital saying, " It seems we made a mistake and sent you the wrong one. Here's the right one. " So you look at it, show it to your patient, and she says, " Well, this new x-ray says I have a malignant tumor. But I don't want to have a malignant tumor, so I'll stick with the first one. " This hypothetical patient is to medicine what the Tropical astrologer with a " whatever floats your boat " attitude is to astrology. As for balance in this debate, I'll close by saying that, at least in the West, Tropicalists have had the floor all to themselves since 221CE, with only an occasional " Pardon me, but. . . " from the likes of Fagan, Bradley, Eshelman, Firebrace, and so on. Tropicalists don't need to respond to me to " preserve the balance. " My presence here _is_ the balance! And may you all have a Happy New Year as we look forward to the beginning of the last year of the 20th Century (nobody's fooling me -- there was no Year Zero!). Love is the law, love under will.
