Guest guest
Juan you raised several intriguing topics. Perhaps you could expand on the brief ideas set forth? #1. Regarding the merits of the sidereal signs (which is not the same as the >constellations) In what way are they not the same? #2. and the tropical signs, I would like to add that modern >sidereal techniques tend to dispense of the zodiac completely, i.e., they >don't use the signs (sidereal or otherwise) to make an analysis and >interpretation. How does one interpret charts without using the signs of the Zodiac? Thanks In Advance for any illuminations, BB

Regarding the merits of the sidereal signs (which is not the same as the constellations) In what way are they not the same?>> Siderealists don't use the constellations, they use " sidereal signs " of exactly 30 degrees each, just like the tropical signs, except that the starting point or " fiducial " is with respect to the stars. The constellations, on the contrary, are all of unequal length. Along the ecliptic, for example, the constellation Cancer takes 20 degrees and Virgo 47 degrees, while Scorpio only 6 degrees (the rest of the " Scorpio " area is occupied by Ophiucus). <<#2. and the tropical signs, I would like to add that modern sidereal techniques tend to dispense of the zodiac completely, i.e., they don't use the signs (sidereal or otherwise) to make an analysis and interpretation. How does one interpret charts without using the signs of the Zodiac?>> By concentrating on the planets (natal, progressed, returns, etc) and their mutual aspects (especially the hard ones) in relationship to the angles. All characteristics are derived from the planets themselves and their different weights or degrees of emphasis. Mundane aspects made by the real physical points are emphasized and not the ecliptical zero-latitude longitudes. This is how, for example, astro-cartography was born. Personally, I practically don't use signs at all in my professional practice. All the psychological characteristics come from the planets and their combinations, seen in reference to the 4 angles (and their derivations throughout the houses). Sidereal astrology, in my opinion, is only secondarily related to interpretations of shifted zodiacal sign characteristics. Learning to work with sidereal time-units and with the real physical points instead of with the ecliptical counterparts is more important. The " feeling " I get from the sidereal signs comes mainly when I consider the chart of historical personages. For example, when the patriot-warrior William Wallace was executed in London the 23rd of August 1305, the Sun was in 7 Virgo tropical, 22 Leo sidereal... which sign do you think represents William Wallace better?
