Guest guest
Philip Brown's article in the current _The Mountain Astrologer_ on John F. Kennedy Jr.'s tragic end prompted me to share with you what I discovered after the crash with the use of the Sidereal zodiac. JFK Jr's last Sidereal Solar Return (SSR) took place at 6:13:07 on Novemeber 25, 1998, in New York City. In the Sixth House is a stellium in Sidereal Scorpio beginning with Chiron at 0*Sco 06', followed by Sun at 8* Sco 46', Pluto at 13* Sco 02 (squaring his natal Pluto at 13* Leo 53'), Venus at 15* Sco 26', and Mercury at 21* Sco 07'. Of this stellium, the last three planets are close enough to the Descendant to be considered " foreground " (closer to the angles than to the other house cusps, and therefore extra-strong) planets. Other than the lunar nodes, nothing else is in the chart's foreground, meaning that Mercury (travel and communication), Venus (love), and Pluto (irreversable change) are going to be the major issues for JFK Jr for 1999. As for Chiron and the Sun, both sextile Neptune, which is at 5* Cap 14', which in turns squares the SSR retrograde Saturn (3* Ari 03') and trines it's Mars (4* Vir 27'). Using the SSR house cusps, we find the following natal planets in the foreground: the almost partile Moon-Chiron conjunction, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto, the lunar nodes, and the Ascendant-Descendant axis, which conjuncts that of the nodes. Natal Pluto is less than two degrees away from the SSR Lower Heaven, meaning both natal and SSR Pluto are in the foreground, further emphasizing Pluto issues for JFK Jr in 1999. In his seminal (and sadly out of print) _Interpreting Solar Returns_, James Eshelman describes a Sidereal predictive technique called enneads. An ennead is a chart for any transit the Sun makes to the natal sun when the distance in degrees is evenly divisible by forty. In his final ennead (6/14/1999, 8:12:04PM EDT, NYC, NY), JFK Jr's Sun is definitely in the foreground -- conjuncting his descendent. Twelfth house Pluto is also a foreground planet, with a Chiron-Black Moon Lilith conjunction in the background, as if it were waiting to strike. Finally, in his last Sidereal Lunar Return, or SLR (7/2/1999, 8:44:33 EDT, NYC, NY), we see a foreground Sun that has definitely " set " . Also in the foreground are Mercury (11* Can 02'), Mars (4* Lib 34'), Jupiter (6* Ari 00'), Saturn (19 Ari 42'), and Neptune (8* Cap 52'). Using the SLR cusps, natal planets in the foreground are Mercury (19* Lib 03'), Venus (17* Sag 42'), Mars (24* Gem 16', conjuncting the SLR descendant at 20* Gem 45'), Saturn (21* Sag 22', conjunting the SLR Ascendant at 20* Sag 45'), and Neptune (15* Lib 44', conjuncting the SLR Mid-Heaven at 15* Lib 26'), which forms a _paran_ or " honorary T-square " with Mars and Saturn, although natal Mercury trines natal Mars and sextiles natal Venus and Saturn). SLR Pluto squares natal Pluto within nineteen seconds. Finally, the SLR Black Moon Lilith conjuncts JFK Jr's natal Sun within less than thirty seconds. When a client has malefic planets in the foregrounds along with the planets of travel and water, a good astrologer would definitely recommend against traveling over water and letting someone else do the driving over land. These results demonstrate, in my opinion, the imperitive nature of correcting for precession, the value of new techniques, and the need to learn more about points such as Black Moon Lilith.
