Dear members, i thought it appropriate to share this information with the group to get an appropriate answer.there is a person in pt. Roop Chand Joshi's native village pharwala whose father Shri Durgadas was a close associate of pt ji at the time of writing these books.when we met him he mentioned that lalkitab was not singlehandedly authored by pt ji. there was a group which can be termed as his partners or assistants but in my thought friends who used to discuss astrology and as it was a tradition in those days to compose them into poetic form, which related to writing kavishri which was popular both as form of entertainment and storing / sharing knowledge about subjects mainly historical or prevelant.these people would compose couplets with of course pt ji having a greater command and say.compared with them, pt ji had larger resources at hand (financial, contacts, language etc.) and with

the publishing of these books only pt ji's and girdhari lalji's name remained but others were (conveniently) forgotten.i think it is appropriate that the group should share any information on this subject and make further research in this respect because if such persons had made some contribution their efforts ought to be duly recognised.regardskulbir

Ribhu ji,

the doubts in your mind are unfounded; u have mentioned pt ji' name as author on the cover page itself plus published pt ji's and girdhari lal ji's photpgraphs also.

my objection concerns to 2 points;

1. the sarsari note included in all the editions advocates that the cover of the book be of dull red colour; u have reapeated the mistake twice.

2. ur respected father's invitation sent through net had (may be by mistake) contained whereby he has been mentioned author of lalkitab 39, 40 and 42.

ur father and his team has done a graet service but it would be appreciated that the coverpage of the next edition is in dull red colour as prescribed by the book itself, u can give other information on other pages inside the book.

Dear Ribhu ji

 

I know your father for the last 4-5 years, he is a kid hearted person

who treats Pt. jee as his Manas Guru. He can never commit such a

mistake intentionally, it is the result of ignorance,I hope that

during the publishing of 1952 edition, this type of error shall not be

repeated. Your timely clarification has increased my respect for your

respected father manifold.

Dear friends

 

Pt. Chandra Muni Pathak has an interesting note in his commentary on lalkitab;

i don't know how to translate it into English so i am putting it as such in

Romanised Hindi;

 

" " 1. Bharat mein grahon ka jyotishiye jyan saurmandal ke grahon se sambhandhit

nahin hai, apitu ek aisa sidhanth hai, jisme yeh bataya gaya hai ki kissi bhi

prakrtik - aprakritik ikkayion me balrekhaon se bane oorja uttsarjan bindu kaun

kaun hain. Saurmandal ke grahon ki pehchan bhi isi sidhant ke tahat ki gayi,

isliye inme samanta pratit hoti hai.

 

2. kissi bhi ikkayi mein grah ke naam se jaane wale in 9 binduon se bhin bhin

prakar ki oorja-trange uttpan hoti hain. us ikkayi ki aakriti avam uski

gun-pravartiyan in hi trango ke gunnatamak samikaran par nirbhar karti hai.

 

3. inhi tarango ko bharat mein devi devta ke naam se bhi jaana jata hai.

 

4. Lalkitab mein grahon ki vastyon ki sarini inhi tarango ki sthiti ko

Dear Ramesh Ji; I claim to know Prabhakar ji like no one else; i am his prodigal

son; my name finds mention in his will alongside his 2 sons;

he will release the book as a mark of respect to Pt. Ji. most probably on

24-12-2009; the day when Pt. Ji. left this planet or on Pt ji's Birthday.

Over the years English and hindi took the centre stage, pushing Urdu into

oblivion. Some translations appeared in 1990's in hindi but had many many

mistakes; The 1952 edition's translation caught fancy of every one who laid his

eyes on it and it further let to ignorance about other 4 editions.
