Sir,

In Arun Sanhita for mercury in the 9th house one of the remedy

suggested is that one should keep an iron goli with red paint on it.

How does a mercury gets associated with an iron goli is beyond my

understanding.Pt. Bhooshan Priya ji suggests this remedy for Ketu in

the 1st house also.Is the purpose of the remedy same? Could you also

explain the form of the remedy?

Sincerely,

Respected Dharmaveer ji,

Yes, the lal kitab does suggest that one of the upaya for mercury

placed in the 9th could be keeping a solid iron goli painted dull red

[ Mars ].

As you know mercury is formed of Jupiter + Rahu. Therefore in the 9th

house it is the Rahu component of the mercury which causes maximum

damage. Therefore the remedy is aimed against this Rahu.

Any solid spherical object is a karak shape of Rahu but it should be

solid. There should not be any hollow or any space left inside lest

mercury gets in there. It is because of this reason a goli is chosen,

because of the shape.

Iron is chosen for two reasons: one that the Rahu is a chhaya grah [ a

shadow planet ] and has no individuality of its own. It acts as an

agent of the Saturn. Secondly, if you know that when the Saturn is

malefic the book describes it of Rahu swabhav [ of Rahu’s nature ].

Therefore when ever Rahu acts belligerent there is always a part of

Saturn in it.

As we all know that Mars alone can subjugate a Rahu, the mahout

controlling the elephant, that is why the dull red [not the shining

red] has been chosen. Therefore the solid iron goli painted with dull

red color is suggested as one of the upaya for Mercury in the 9th

house.

The same upaya is also suggested for Ketu in the 1st house of the

Janma Kundali. In this case the goli shape is chosen because in the

Janma Kundali if the Ketu is in the 1st house then the Rahu would be

in the 7th and will damage Ketu through an aspect from the 7th.

The material iron has been chosen for the same reason that Ketu is

also acting as an agent of Saturn. The dull red colour [ Mars ], in

this case, is chosen not because it is a mahout of the elephant, but

because the 1st house belongs to the Mars.

Regards,
