Mercury in the 2nd and father's death

Sir,

An astrologer recently maintained that if the mercury is placed in the

2nd house and Jupiter in the 6th or the 7th then father’s age is

doubtful

Is it true that the father will die between the age of 16 and 21 of the

jatak; if not then at the most between 34 and 36 the father would either

die or live a life much worse then death?

With respect

Respected Raheja ji,

NO! It is not true.

Mercury in the 2nd along with Jupiter in either the 6th house or the

7th by itself can not cause death, or death like existence, of the

father UNLESS it is also corroborated through the lines on the palm.

The book lays down two other conditions for it; namely that if the

line of mind and the line of life are separated at the beginning

[near the mount of Jupiter] and also that the line of mind is curved

towards the mount of Jupiter, an indication of mercury affecting

Jupiter, then only, and only then, there is a possibility of father

either dieing early or living a life worse than death. I used the

word possibility, and not certainty.

If the line of mind and the line of life are separate in the

beginning and the line of mind is not curved towards the mount of

Jupiter, then the Jatak may not get comfort from the father; it does

not necessarily mean that the father will die early, there could be

other reasons for not getting comfort from the father.

Remember astrology is a science of probabilities and not of

certainties. Therefore any astrologer making declarations of a

certainty is likely to get embarrassed at the end. Those trying to

play Lord Brahma themselves, end up cutting a sorry figure. It is

only a Siddha purush who can play Lord Brahma and get away with it,

but then he would not need to look at the horoscope any way.

An astrologer should be extremely careful about any pronouncements

regarding death, because this could lead to a serious mental agony

to the jatak. In India it might go uncontested, but if it were in

the USA or other western country, it could invite legal action

against the astrologer.

As a matter of professional ethics an astrologer should not touch

upon this topic in the first place. Even if the astrologer notices

some such anomaly in the horoscope, and has confirmed it through

other indications, then only he should, if at all, use a very subtle

way to convey it.

Sir Varun ji,

Thank you for clearing my doubt. You have said it correctly that the

entire conditions given in the Lal Kitab should be quoted when

talking about the results of the planets.

Thanking you once again,

Respected Doctor saheb,

It is an important query. Thank you for asking it.

tota bole.. The Lal Kitab has prohibited keeping a parrot / sheep/

goat as a pet for those who have mercury in the 2nd house. Bringing

home a parrot would amount to strengthening the mercury.

If some one brings home a parrot as a pet, then who is the mercury

going to adversely affect. There are two planets associated with the

2nd house; namely the venus [ house owner ] and Jupiter [ pakka

house]. Since the venus is a friend of mercury it is not going to

adversely affect it. Therefore it is going to affect only the

jupiter, the father, hence the saying 'tota bole, pitaa bhage’

For this the Lal Kitab has advised the upaya of either moon or

Jupiter. A moon placed in the 8th will have an aspect of exaltation

[ uchcha ] on the 2nd house. It is this exalted aspect of the moon

which will be able to break this jinx.

Respected Mahajan ji,

In that case, a mercury placed at Dhan Sthan could adversely affect

the father in financial terms and not in terms of threat to his life.
